"as" will enable 1othersnskilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
Our invention relates to vending machines and more particularly 'to coincontrolled vending machines designed `for.dispensing pencils, chewing'gum, or similar'obj'ects or Parcels? l, .i A
n An bject ofthe invention is to provide a vending machinewhich will be positive and accurate in itsoperation and of few and simple parts not easilybroken or gotten out of order. Y
4 It is also desired to provide a device which mayy be operated only by a coin of the correct denomination and which maybe quickly and easilyiilled with objects to be dispensed when thesupply becomes exhausted.
Referring to the drawing herewith wherein like lnumeralsof reference areV applied to like parts in all the views,`Fig. 1 is a front elevation of the' assembled device; Fig. 2 is a'longitudinal section on the plane 242 of Fig. 1; Fig. 3 vis a top plan view with one side brokenaway to show some interior parts; Fig. 4 `is a rear yelevation with part-ef `thecasing broken away; Fig. 5 is a central longitudinal section of the roperat-ing mechanism on the plane `5-5 of Fig. 4 Fig. 6 is a front. elevation of' said" operating mechanism. 7 The vending mechanism is lmu'sediiny a casing which 4`Vmay be approximately free` tangular in t'op plan as shown Iin Fig. `3. Said casing is mountedon a base `2` and has a front plate 1`v with an opening 3'therein .adjacent4 thebase '2 tol give accesst'the upper end of said plate'is bentrearwardly -tactfwithacoin 33.` l
perforated ears 14. About midway of said plate is an opening` 15 formed vertically thereof to act as a guide for the plunger 17 Secured on the forward side Of the plate at113 to'provide an attachment for two short 1l `are a number 0f platesgg". 24, 25 and 26,
so shaped and spaced as to providel between them a vertical slideway 18 for the said plunger 17 which is of the same thickness as saidplates and shaped to"1`slide in the track y18. The' upper end of :said 'n plunger has a push knob 19 thereon andthe `lower en d is lcut by a notch 20.` At thelleft -1 of sald notch, as seen in Fig. 4, thereis a lblunt shoulder21, enthe end of the plunger. The side of the said notch away fromisaid i shoulder is inclined at 22 to.` act upon a coin to force it into operative position.:r
The platel 24 is spacedfrom the side of the `casing suficien'tly to allow a slideway 27 for the coin. This slideway is directed toward the center below said plungerby'fplate l25 so asto `deliver the coin ata point directly below the plunger.
Between platesV 23 and'126is' a slideway 28 in which fits a sliding` latch. plate 29 which is normally heldV forward mto the passage 18 bymeans of `a tension spring w30 secured at one end to a post `31 on'the plate 25 and at itsfop'positeend tothe outer end of said' latch. The forward end lof the latch has an upper rounded shoulder 32ito `con- Beiow the nach the Slot 18- isinrcnned laterally to `dischargethe coininto the coin y chamberS. l
The plunger 17 is heldlnormally elevatedfposition, as shownin Figs. 2- `and '4 by means of springs 34 vdn the forward sidev of theplatefll and secured to the ears 14attheir upper ends and atthe lower ends 'withinbpenings 35 in delivering device. This device comprises 'a lplate 36 slidable on the forward sideof the plate 11 and con? nectedto the plunger, and spaced. from the delivered may be received, As shown in Fig. 2, the objects to bediSPQllSfi. 11.1.th1s
