PATENT OFFICE.
TOI-IN J'. JACKSON, O'F ALAMOGORDO, NEW MEXICO.
HOLDER FOR TUB-FILLING- HOSE.
Applicaton filed February 21, 1924. Serial No. 694,362.
To @ZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, .loi-1N J. JACKSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Alamogordo, in the county of Otero and State oi' New Mexico, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Holders or Tub-Filling Hose; and l do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains, to make and use the same.
Then filling tubs with water from a hose, it is often necessary to hold the latter over the tub until the lilling operation is complete, which requires. the expenditure of a great deal of time, which might be more advantageously expended, particularly when washing clothes. lt is the object of my invention however, to provide a simple dual clamp, one portion of which engages the wall ot a tub, while another portion holds the hose in proper position to fill the tub, so that no further attention is necessary, after once clamping the hose to the tub, until the latter is filled.
lVith thc foregoing in view, the invention resides in the novel subject matter hereinafter described and claimed, the description being supplemented by the accompanying drawing.
Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the use of the invention.
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view.-
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the three bars from which the device is preferably constructed.
ln the preferred form of construction, selected for illustration in the present application, l make use of three short-bars which are preferably formed of wood, these bars being designated in the drawing by the numerals l, 2 and 3 respectively. The bars l and 2 are adapted to straddle the wall of a tub and the intermediate portions of said bars, are connected by a bolt i having a wing-nut 5, so that the bars may be tightly is provided to connect the bars l and 3 and clamp the hose between them, said bolt 7 having a wing-nut 8. i
The tub-engaging sides of the bars l and 3 are preferably formed with grooves 9 to receive the usual bead around the edge of the tub wall., and i't'the bar 2 extends sutliciently high to necessitate such formation, a portion of its upper end maybe cut away at l0 for disposition at one side of the hose.
l't will be seen that the device is extremely simple and inexpensive, yet that it will be very desirable and may be quickly and easily applied or removed. Excellent results have been obtained from the details disclosed and they are therefore preferably followed, but within the scope of the invention as claimed, numerous minor changes may be made.
I claim:
l. A device of the class described comprising` a pair ot bars whose lower ends are adapted to straddle a tub wall, a bolt passing through said bars for tightly clamping them against the tub wall, and means cooperable with one of said bars for clamping a tub filling hose against said last mentioned bar.
2. A device of the class described comprising a pair of bars whose lower ends are adapted to straddle a tub wall, a bolt passing through said bars for tightly clamping them against the tub wall, a third bar adjaent the outermost of said pair of bars and cooperable therewith to hold a tub-filling hose, and a second bolt connecting said third bar and said outer bar with each other.
3. A device of the class described comprising a pair of bars whose lower ends are adapted to straddle a tub wall, one of said bars having therein'a bead receiving groove, a bolt passing through said bars for tightly clamping them against the tub wall, a third ba-r adjacent to the outermost of said pair of bars and co-operable therewith to hold a tub-filling hose, said third bar having a bead-receiving groove, and a second bolt adjustably connecting said third bar and said outer bar with each other.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto aflixed my signature.
