A. SCHUCHARD'T CLUSTER LAMP SOCKET Filed April 11. 1924 Patented Aug. 18, 1925.
PATENT OFFICE.
" AUGUST SCHUCHARDT, OF RUHLA, GERMANY.
CLUSTER LAMP sogxn'r.
Application filed April 11, 1924. Serial No. 705,843.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Aooos'r SoHUoHARDr,
a citizen of the German Republic, residingat, Ruhla, Thuringia, Germany, have ina v 'tral contact screws and designed to insulate jth'e' central terminals h fromthe sleeve tervented certain new and useful Improvements in Cluster Lamp Sockets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has for its object to improve the construction of cluster lamp sockets 1n such a manner that 1t is'conslderably simplified, of compact shape and comprises Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section.
Fig. 2 is a horizontal section on line AB of Fig. 1. i
Fig. 3 is avertical section on line C-D of Fig. 1. p
The cluster lamp socket comprises an insulating body a which has, on its lower side,
means for supplying current to the incandescent lamps. This insulating body a carries on its top part a boss 6 of insulating material which contains the current receiving elements. These elements are the outer terminal 0 and the central terminal CZ. The outer terminal c is electrically connected with a conductor 9 which has flaps g leading to the central terminals h of the two lamps. The central terminal at of the boss 6 is held by a screw bolt 2' the lower end of which engages with a metal yoke is which has two flaps is into each of which a screw 11?, is screwed, said screws being fixed in the corresponding sleeve terminals Z for the lamps. Each sleeve terminal Z is enclosed in a socket n, said sockets being mounted each in a cavity 0 of the insulating body a and held in the sleeve terminals Z by commonly used standard holder rings p. By the boss a good transmission of current is ensured e. g. from the outer terminal 0 to conductor 9 and the flaps g of the same, hence to the central terminals h of the lamps and from the central terminal d of the boss, screw bolt 2; and conductor is and the flaps is of the same to screws m and the sleeve terminals Z. In the sleeve terminalsl disks (1 of insulating material of convenient thickness are located which are held by the cenminals Z (see Figs. 1 3).
I claim A cluster lampsocket comprising, an integral body of insulating material having a cavity in its top and sockets formed in its bottom, an upper conductor located in said cavity, said body and conductor being formed with perforations leading from said cavity to each of said sockets and said body being formed with a central perforation, anda lower conductor held against the under face of said body about said central perforation, in combination with a longitudinally centrally perforated boss of insulating material, a' screw passing through the perforation in said-boss and the aligned central perforationin said body and engaging said lower conductor to hold said boss tightly seated in said cavity and to hold said boss, body and lower conductor rigidly together in assembled relation, an outer terminal 011 said boss extending over the lower end face thereof adjacent the edges thereof to seat upon, and make electrical contact with, the upper conductor, two lamp sockets respectively seated in the respective sockets in said body and comprising each a central insulating block, a terminal sleeve, and a central contact, means electrically connecting the respective terminal sleeves to said lower conductor, screws respectively extending from said cavity through the respective perforations in said upper conductor and said body to the respective sockets and through the respective insulating blocks of the respective lamp sockets therein, and en-' gaging the central contacts respectively of the respective lamp sockets to hold said lamp sockets firmly in the sockets of said body and also to establish electrical connection between said upper conductor and the respective central contacts of the respectivelamp sockets.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
