Be it known that l, l.losnrrr FHILANDER Hasn', a citizen of the United States, residingl at San Diego, in the county of San Diego and State of California, have invented a new and useful Switch Standpof which the following,` is a specification.
This invention aims to provide a novel switchy throwingi mechanism whereby a signal will be given when a train runs through a switch without having the switch points set properly. The invention aims, further, to provide novel means for operating the switch points. A. further object of the invention is to provide a device of the class described which will withstand severe use, and be so constructed that its operation will not be interfered with appreciably by snow or ice.
lt is within the province of the disclosure to improve generally and to enhance the utility of devices of that sort to which the invention appertains.
llVith the above and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being` understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.

The numeral 1 marks the main line rails of a railroad track, the siding rails appearing at 2, the switch points at 3 and the switch ties at il. The switch points 3 are operatively connected in the common way by a bridle 5 which is pivoted at 6 to a link 7.
The numeral 8 marks a switch stand including a base 9 and a pedestal 10 upstanding from the base, the base being secured at 11 to the switch ties t. In the base 9 of the switch stand V8 and in the pedestal thereof, a

vertical shaft 12 is liournaled, the shaft being L pped at lower end with a crank arm 14;. including` an upstanding portion. The b. Q of the switch stand is provided with a raised lower surface 15, there being re cesses 16 extended inwardly from opposite e-.fuz'es of the buse 9 and interrupting; the said face 15, as indicated in Figure i of the c awings. Vlfhe inner end ofthe link 7 is mounted on the upstandingr portion of the crank arm 11i of the shaft 12. rlhe upstanding portion of the crank arm lll terminates so close to the lower surface 15 of the hase 9 of the switch stand that, when the crank arm 14 isso disposed that the switch points 3 are set either for the main line or for the siding, the inner end of the link 7 cannot escape upwardly off the crank arm. llVhen, however, the crank arm 1li is so disposed that the upstanding portion thereof is beneath one of the recesses 16, the inner end of the link .7 may be mounted readily on the upstanding portion ofthe crank arm la. The device, therefore, is so constructed that it affords means whereby the link 7 may be assembled readily with the crank arm 11i, and whereby, when the device is in use, the link will remain securely assembled with the crank arm.
The numeral 17 marks a disk-like keeper having' any desired number of notches or sea-ts 18 in its edge, there beine,` a stop pin 19 in the upper surface of the keeper, adjacent to each notch. The shaft 12 extends through the keeper 17. The keeper 17 has a downwardly and outwardly extended angular arm 20 movable in a bracket 21 secured to the pedestal 10 of the switch stand 8.
