Description

c. I-ILYJ'ARVIS HOLDER OR MOLD Filed June 4, 1924 (NVENTOR Chnfles H. Jqrv'w Aug. 11, 1925.
ATTORNEYS Patented na ii, was.
cnannns n. JARVIS, or BATT E CREEK,
MICHIGAN, ASSIGNOR TO UNITED STEEL do "WIRE COMPANY, OF BATTLE CREEK, MICHIGAN.
HOLDER on MOLD.
Application filed June t,
To all whom. it may concern.
Be it known that 1, CHARLES H. JARvIs, a citizen of. the United States, residing at Battle Creek, county of Calhoun, State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Holders or Molds, of which the following is a specification.
v This invention relates to improvements in holders or molds for cooking or process ing sausages, meat or the like.
The main object of this invention is to. provide an improved holder of the class described which is easily closed or opened, is simple and durable in structure and easily cleaned.
Objects pertaining to 1 details and economies of construction and operation of my improvements will definitely appear from the detailed description to follow.
ll accomplish the objects of my invention by the devices and means described in the following specification. The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claims.
A structure which is a preferred embodiment-of my invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing forming a part of this application, in which Fig. l is a perspective view of my improved holder closed.
Fig. Ill is a transverse section on a line corresponding to line 2-2 of Fig. ll.
Fig. In is an end view with the holder open, a package being indicated within the holder by dotted lines.
Fig. IV is a detail perspective View showing details of one of the catches.
In the drawing similar reference numerals indicate similar parts. in all of the views.
Referring to the drawing, my improved holder or mold comprises a plurality of longitudinal' bars or wires 1 which are disposed upon the inside of and welded to the cross members 2 and 3. Thesecross members are formed of loops of wire formed into angles, the rear ends'of the cross members 3 being formed into eyes 4 en aging the rear longitudinal member 5 o the holder member designated enerally by the numeral 6, the holder memger provided with the eyes being designated generally by the numeral 7.
The bight or loop ends of the cross members 2 and 3 project beyond the front longitudinal bars forming coacting catch membars 8 and 9, the catch members 9 being adapted to be inserted through the catch 1924. Serial No. 717,732.
members 8. The bights of the catch members 9 are ofi'set upwardly forming keepers With the holder members thus formed and connected together, the catch members may be. readily engaged and disengaged, and at the same time, when engaged, are securely retained, the article within the holder tending to hold the catch members more securely in engagement.
A handle 11 is secured to the end cross piece of the holder member 2, the handle being provided for convenience in handling theholder and its contents and also as a suspending means.
The diagonally disposedbars 12 are secured to the bottom cross pieces, these cross bars serving to retain the contents when the holder is suspended.
My improved holder is especially designed as a mold or holder for molding and processing sausages and other meats. The structure is very economical to produce,'is strong and durable and capable of withstanding severe usage.
The longitudinal end cross wires are preferably connected by electric welds, the longitudinal wires being arranged on the inside of the cross pieces.
A further advantage is that there are no loose parts to become misplaced or lost.
Having thus described my invention,
what I claim as new and desire to secure.
by Letters Patent is:
1. In a holder of the class described, the combination of a pair of coacting holder members, each comprising longitudinal bars and angled cross pieces formed of loops of wire disposed on the outer sides of the longitudinal bars and welded thereto with their loops projecting forwardly beyond the front longitudinal bars, the projecting loops of one holder member having their bight' portions laterally ofi'setand being adapted to be engaged within the loops of the other holder member providing catches, the rear ends ofthe cross pieces of one holder memf her being formed into eyes engaging the rear longitudinal bar of the other member providing a hinge connection for the members.
2. In a holder oi the class described, the combination of a pair of coacting holder members, each comprising longitudinal bars and angled cross pieces formed of loops of one holder member being formed into eyes engaging the rear longitudinal bar of the other member providing a hinge connection for the members.
3. In a holder of the class described, the
' combination of a pair of pivotally connected coacting holder members, each comprising longitudinal bars and angled cross pieces formed of loops of wire disposed on the outer sides of the longitudinal bars and welded thereto with their loops projecting forwardly beyond the front longitudinal bar, the projecting loops of one holder member having their bight portions laterally offset and being adapted to be engaged within the loops of the other holder member providing catches.
4:. In a holder of the class described, the combination of a pair of coacting pivotally connected holder members, each comprising longitudinal bars and cross pieces formed of loops of wire disposed with their loops proneaaeee jecting forwardly beyond the front longi tudinal bars, the projecting loops of one holder member being adapted to be engaged within the loops of the other holder member.
5. In a holder of the class described, the combination of a pair of coacting pivotally connected holder members, each comprising longitudinal bars and cross pieces formed of loops of wire disposed with their loops projecting forwardly beyond the front longitudinal bars, the projecting loops of one holder member having their hight portions laterally offset and being adapted to be engaged within the loops of the other holder member providing catches.
6. In a holder-0f the class described, the combination of a pair of coacting pivotally connected holder members, each comprising longitudinal bars and angled cross pieces disposed with their front ends projecting beyond the front longitudinal bar constituting coacting catch members, the rear ends of the cross pieces of one holder being formed into eyes engaging the rear longitudinal bar of the other member providing a hinge connection for the members.
in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
CHARLES JAEVIEi.
