Be it known that I, PAUL HAMMES, a citizen ot the German Republic, residing at Treves, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Boot Blocks, ot which the following is a specilication.
Boot blocks have become known which are either designed to merely enlarge the upper ot the boot or to enlarge and stretch the upper. The boot blocks oi' known construction possess the inconvenience that the enlargingl ot the upper is not carried out in the best practical manner owing to the tact that for this purpose the instep part is composed ot two elements which are adjustable parallel with one another but independently the one of the other. @wing to this construction either the shape of the instep portion et the upper is varied in an undesirable manner, the seams burst, or the tip ot' the toe part ot the boot is deformed.
This invention avoids all these inconveniences and the boot block made according to the invention does not only enlarge the boot in a properA manner, but stretches the san e also and itA presents the further advantage that the enlarging as well as the stretching can be carried out in any desired succession. The manipulation of the improved boot block is very simple. Accordingl to the invention the rear support for the spindle which serves for displacing the heel part of the block in longitudinal direction is rigidly connected with the toe part ot the block designed tor widening the upper so that the stretching and widening can he carried onty independently oit the other and alternately in any desired succession without `iamming or blocking of the stretching mechanism.

The hoot block consists of the Jliront part composed of a lower part 1. and ot an upper part 2, these parts being connected with one another by means oi" a hinge 3. To the rear end et lower part 1 of the front part oit the block a bar t is fixed. da horizontal threaded spindle 8 is swivelled and hingedly mounted. This horizontal spindle traverses a nut 9 which is rotatably mounted in the head 10 of a lever 11 which is pivotally mounted on a 'pivot pin 12 tired in a clip 13 rearwardly projecting from the bar 11. The lower end 14 ot lever 11 is enlarged to serve as heel block.
The vertical spindle 6 serves to raise or lower the upper part 2 of the front block in order to regulate the widening of the upper. The horizontal spindle 8 serves to stretch the boot by regulating the distance or the heel block 14 from the trent block 1, 2.
Owing to the spindles 6 and S being both fixed to the vertical bar a which is .fixed to the lower part 1 ot the front block, the i ing or for widening and stretching the boot.
I claim A stretching and widening block for boots comprising in combination with the trent block composed ot two parts hingedly connected the one with the other at the 'trent end, a vertical bar lined tok the rear end oit the lower part of the 'front block, a tork shaped support fixed in the rear end ot the upper part of the front block, a lng forwardly projecting from the upper end o1 said har, a vertical spindle threaded in said lug and swivelled into said fork-shaped support and designed to raise or lower the npper part ot the 'trent block, a rearwardly )rejecting clip on said bar, a two-armed lever pivotally mounted in the tree end oi said clip, the lower end of said lever torming the heel block, a fork-shaped upper end ot said lever, a nut rotatably mounted in said upper fork-shaped part ot said lever and a horizontal spindle hingedly and rotatably connected with the iront end in the upper part of said bar and screwed through said nut so that said lever with the heel block can be adjusted by the rotation ot said horizontal spindle.
