It vis the purpose of this arm 27 and the adjustable element 86 to obviate this dificulty and that is accomplished in the followingy manner. The member 28 is soconnected with the arm 27 that the vsurface 30 will always be maintained in the proper' position with respect to the glasses 38, but in taking the reel and the arm 27 carried lthereby out of the casing or inserting` a new one therein, the reel may have been rotated with respect to the surface 30. Therefore, when the reel is placed back into ,the casing the arm 2T may be raised with respect to the reel or view carrying support, with the result that the free extremity thereof will projett through the open face of and beyond the using. It is immaterial what position this arm 27 assumes when the reel is being placed `back into the cas-infr. After the reel -has been properly positioned and in order to adjust the reel with respect to the surface 30, all that is necessary is to insert Va proper check into the mechanism and start the apparatus into operation. Under these conditions the Yarm 2 7vwill travel with the reel or view carrying support until the eX- tremity of the element SGeng'ages the Abottom of the housing or casing, at which time the movement of the arm will be arrested, as will also the movement ofthe element -28 and surface 30. An apparatus -of the character describedA embodying -a yrotatable, support, a plurality of picture carriers mounted upon the support, means forrotating the support -to position the pictures with respect to' a view point, the said means embodying a motor including anescapement mechanism, a shiftable member for storing energy in the said motor to operate the. latter, means controlled by the insertionof a check or token for shifting the said member, and means independent ofthe escapement mechanism and operating tostop the motor at a krpredetermined point in the cycle of opera*V tion of the rotatable support.

plurality ofgpicture carriers mounted upon the support, means for rotatingY the support to position thepictures with respect to a View point, the said means embodying a motor includingan escapeme'nt mechanism, a shiftable member orstoring energy in the saidmotor to operate theA latter, means independent of the escapement mechanismV andY operating tol stop the motor at a predeter mined point in the cycle of operation of the rotatableV support, and means forV imparting a `degree of movement to the said member 4sufficient to create substantially only enough energy inthe motor tofimpart only a predetermined degreeV of rotation to the said rotatable support. i i f 30. An apparatus of the character described embodying a rotatable support, a plurality of picture carriers mounted upon the support, means for rotating the support to position the pictures with respect to a view point, the said means embodying a motor including an escapement mechanism, a shiftable member for storing energy in the said motor to operate the latter, means independent of the escapement mechanism and operating to stop the motor at a predetermined point in the cycle of operation of the rotatable support, all of said part-s being disposed within a closed casing, and means accessible from the exterior of the casing for actuating the said movable member.

An apparatus of the character described embodying a rotatable support, means for rotating the support, said means embodying a gear, escapement mechanism for controlling the rotation of the gear, an additional gear, a rack meshing with said additional gear, means tending normally to move the rack in one direction, and means for moving the rack in the opposite direction and against the stress of the last recited means.

An apparatus of the character described embodying a rotatable support, means for rotating the support, said means embodying a gear, escapement mechanism for controlling the rotation of the gear, an additional gear, a rack meshing with said additional gear, means tending normally to move the rack in one direction, means for moving the rack in the-opposite direction and against the stress of the last recited means, and a stop device independent of the escapement mechanism and connected with the said additioal gear for arresting the operation of the parts.

An apparatus of the character described embodying a rotatable support, means for rotating the support, said means embodying a gear, a spring, an additional gear, a rack meshing with the said additional gear for rotating the latter forwardly and backwardly, means responsive in its operation to the movement of the said additional gear and adapted to be set to rotate the first said gear, a lever connected with the rack, said spring being connected with the lever to move it in one direction, means for shifting the lever to store energy in the said spring, and means for retarding the rotation of the said gears under the influence of the said spring.

An apparatus of the character described embodying a rotatable support, means for rotating the support, said means embodying a gear, a spring, an additional gear, a rack meshing with the said addi` tional gear for rotatingA the latter forwardly and backwardly, means responsive in its operation to the movement of the said additional gear and adapted to be set to rotate the first said gear, a lever connected with the rack, said spring being connected with the lever to move it in one direction, means for shifting the lever to store energy in the said spring, and an escapement mechanism for retarding the rotation of the said gears under the influence of the said spring.
35. An apparatusv of the character described embodying an enclosing housing, a rotatable drum like structure therein, view carrying members connected with the drum,
means for inspecting the views from thel outside of the casing and as the drum is rotated, and operating mechanism within the casing for rotating the drum, the said drum and view carriers being adapted to be disconnected from the said operating meching the shaft against removal, and means Y for rotating the said rotatable bearing.
