Figure 1 is a side elevation showing my improved catch as mounted on the back of a bar pin and retaining the pointed end of the fastening pin-stem.

Figure 2 is a view showing this catch member as swaged from sheet stock while in extended position.

Figure 3 illustrates the ear members as partially folded up from the base.

Figure 4 is a central sectional view through the base portion of the body member with the guard member removed.

Figure 5 is the same as Figure 4 with the guard member mounted in the groove of the body and showing its operating handlev as extending from the groove and laterally over to engage one sideof the ear portion, the guard member being in open position.

Figure 6 is the same as Figure 5 showing the guard member as having been rotated to closed position.

'lt is found. in the prat'ztical construction aiidjoperati'o'n of safety'catches of this character, ofadvantage to provide simple and effective means'wherbythe guard niember is unable tobecome disengaged fromitsflgroove in the body of the catclnieven though the ear members should become widely separated as issometimes the 'case When'the'c'atch has been subjected. to extraordinary strains thereby preventing the release of the pinstem and loss of'the bar pin'or "'rooch'pn which the catch may be" mounted; and to accomplish this in a simple and effective way, Ifhave formed an operating handle on the rotor ,keeper, ofextended length and have folded or extendedthe same over and around toengage one side of one ofthe ear members so that even though these ear memhere should become widely separated by some undue strain at their usual meeting edges the guard member mounted therein, would be prevented from becoming disengaged from its operating position and would still function to retain the pointed end of the pin-stem; and the following is a detailed description of the present embodiment of my invention showing one means by which these advantageous results may be accomplished:

My improved safety catch may be formed preferably of two cooperating ear members 13 connected to a common base 14. Each of these ears is provided with a radial slot 15 for the reception of the pin-stem and about i the center of this slot is formed annular folded In the back of these ears a slot 18 is 7 formed which communicates With the annui 18 in the back of the ears and is bent over and so serve to effectively retain the guard lar groove 16 therein.
