C. D. MUNSON COMBINED DOLL AND SILVERWARE HOLDER Filed March 27, 1925 INVENTOR- m m D m A m Patented June 39, 1925 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CRAIG D. MUNSON, OF VIALLINGFORD, CONNECTICUT, A'SSIGNOR TO INTERNATIONAL SILVER COMPANY, OF MEBIDEN, CONNECTICUT, A CO'RPORATION OF NEVJ JERSEY.
COMBINED DOLL AND SILVERWARE HOLDER.
Application filed March 27, 1925. Serial No. 18,677.
T 0 all w/zom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CRAIG D. MUNsoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at lValling'lord, county of New Haven, State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Dolls and Silverware Holders, of whicn the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to a novel silverware holder and has for its object to provide a holder for childrens silverware which shall be attractive to children and when provided with silverware constitute a more readily merchandisable product, the silverware and the holder both contributing to the sale or the combined article. i t further has "for its object to provide a silverware holder in the form of a doll having suitable pockets for holding one or more pieces of flatware. It further has for its object to provide a doll silverware holder in which the silverware is concealed from view.
The following is a description of an embodiment of my invention, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which,
Fig. 1 is a front elevation of a doll embodying my invention; 7
Fig. 2 is a trout elevation of the doll with the coat thrown open to show the si lverware and the means for supporting the same.
Referring more particularly to the draw ings, Fig. 1 shows a doll having a coat 2 provided with buttons 1, an outer belt 6 and an undergarment 8 covering the body of the doll, the same comprising trousers whose lower ends are tucked into boots 9. Secured to this undergarment is an inner belt 10 as shown in Fig. 2. This belt is secured at its ends and at intervals 12 by stitches so as to form a series of loops extending across the front of the body of the doll. To the undergarment below and in vertical alinement with one of the loops formed by the belt, another loop 14 is secured. Where there are a plurality of loops extending across the body of the doll there are loops on the opposite sides of the medial plane.
lVhen in use as a silver holder, the handles of the flatware, such as forks and spoons, are inserted downwardly through the loops formed by the belt, the knife or larger pieces passing through one or" the loops of the belt and also in the second loop 1% in vertical alinement therewith so as to be more securely held, as shown at the right of Fig. 2. The coat flaps, when the coat is closed, conceal the silverware.
In this way a novel holder for childrens silverware is provided which commends itself to the purchasing public and one in which the silverware isnormally substantially concealed from view. I
As will be evident to those skilled in the art,niy invention permits of various modiof a doll having a doll body with'an inner' garment thereon, said garment having loops on opposite sides 01"? a medial plane for bold ing fiat tableware and a coat having flaps covering said loops and concealing the same.
3. A holder for flat tableware consisting of a doll having a doll body with an inner garment thereon, a belt secured to said garment at intervals so as to form a series of loops for holding flat tableware and-a coat having fiaps covering said loops and con cealing the same.
4. A holder for fiat tableware consisting of a doll having a doll body with an inner garment thereon, and two loops secured to said garment, one located above the other onnro n.+MUNsoN.
