C. HAAS ROLLER SKATE Filed June 5, 1924 Patented June 16, 1925.
PATENT OFFICE.
CARL HAAS, OF ST. MORITZ-BAD ENGADIN, SWITZERLAND.
ROLLER SKATE.
Application filed June 3, 1924. Serial No. 717,506.
To all to/ mm it may concern:
Be it known that I, CARL HAAs, a citizen of the Swiss Confederation, residing at St. Moritz-Bad Engadin, Switzerland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Roller Skates, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a roller skate made from aluminium and having only two running wheels, the mechanism for attaching the roller skate to the sole and heel of the boot consisting of a lever system which, when an elbow lever is stretched beyond and dead point position presses together simultaneously the claws for the sole and those for the heel. The invention consists further in that the plate of the roller skate is extended atthe rear end and bent down at an angle so that this extension can serve as a brake.
An embodiment of the invention is shown by way of example on the accompanying drawing, in which: 7
Fig. lis a plan view seen from below.
Fig. 2 is a side elevation.
The foot plate a is made from aluminium and extended at the rear end, the extension I) being bent downward so that when the foot is put on the plate this extension 7) serves as brake. The ball bearings are preferably mounted elastically. The bearings 0 may be supported by means of flaps stamped out of the plate a. The running wheels have solid rubber tires. For attaching the skate 0n the boot claws f are provided for 35 the sole and claws g for the heel. These claws f, g are fixed on a lever system it, i, is, Z. An elbow lever Z pivotally mounted at m is designed to operate the lever system. When the lever Z is turned in the direction 40 of the arrow beyond the dead point position the links 2', 70 move in the direction indicated by the arrow and the claws f, g are pressed against the sole-and heel of the boot.
I claim r A roller skate comprising in combination a foot plate made from sheet aluminium, a lever system on the lower surface of said sole plate, sole claws and heel claws fixed on said lever system and an elbow lever for i operating said lever system so that the sole claws and heel claws are simultaneously pressed against the boot, and an extension at the rear end of the foot plate said extension'being bent down so that it can serve 7 as brake. i
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
CARL HAAS.
