Our inventionl relates to phone plugs, and in particular to phone plugs for use in radio apparatus.

T his-cap plate has five radial cutaway portions 7 for receiving-helical'springs 8 arranged radially in suchcutuway portions in the cap plate. Such radial cutaway portions have the apertures 9 associated therewith on the sides thereof overlapping the spring` location for the reception of phone tips 10 which, when inserted therein, engage with the springs and are yieldingly held in position. Five such radial cutaway portions are provided in the. cap plate although the exact number vis immaterial es suoli a number depends-upon the size and complexity of the phone plug. In four of these cutaway portions the springs 8 are alike but in the 5th of suoli portions a special spring is provided oonsisting of a coil and a diagonally extending u rm 11 which turns downwardly :it right :ingles thereto as at 12. This arnrll is located in a groove 13 communicating with the cutaway portions7 and with the re- 14. The end12-of the spring extends into this retaining aperture 1li in engagement with the retaining screw 15. This retaining screw serves to hold the cap plate in position and to es-A tablish contact with one side of the phone plug ,and to complete one side ot the circuit.
Another of these retaining screws connecting the other side of the circuit is designated 16 which tits in the aperture 17 in the cup plate G. This retaining screw 16 is in engagement with the spring 8 so that a. phone tip inserted in an aperture adjacent said s ring will be in circuit with the spring and tie screw 16, and the parts to which the screw is att-ached.
