Toallwhomitmayconcem: l
Be it known that'I, CHARLES C. Srnnnir, a citizenof the United States, residin at Detroit, in the county of Wayne and tate of Michigan, have invented a-certainnew and useful'Improyement in Mechanical; Re-
18 '8. full, clear, and exact description,'re erence being had to the accompanying drawings.
ing this specification and forming a part thereof I have shown, for purposes of illustration, one embodiment which my invention may assume. In these drawings:
Figure'l is a section on the line 1 1 of Figure 3,
Y Figure 2 is asection "on the line 22 of Figure 1, while j Figure 3 isv a section on the line 3-3 of Figures land 2. p
In the embodiment of my invention herein shown my invention is illustrated as applied to an ice cream cabinet 11 provided with a bottom wall 12, a front wall 13, a rear wall 14, an end wall 15, and'a partition wall 16 dividing thecabinet into a refrigerating compartment (not shown) and a compressorcompartment, and positioned within the of the partition 16 is a compressor unit 31 comprising a compressor 32 having its mlet 33 connected by meansof a duct 34 to the outlet 35 of an expansioncoil located within the refrigerating chamber, a condensing coil 36 having its inlet 37 connected through. a shut-off valve .38 to the outlet 39 of the compressor 32, an expansion valve 40 having its 7 outletof the cooling air circulatingabout the condensing coil 36 and near its lower end with an opening My invention relates to mechanical refrigeration. In the drawings accompanycabinet 11 on the compressor chamber side' 49 for the inlet of this circulating air. T e openin 49 is positioned directly in front of a an 50 carried by the shaft 51 of the motor 45 and is elongated to remain in front of the fan 50 durmgthe travel of the motor 45' in response to-means connected to the motor 45 to constantly urge the motor 45- away from the I compressor 32 to. thus maintain ti ht the belt the compressor 32. To facilitate the passage of the circulating air into and out of the casing 46 connecting the'motor 45 an 11 the casing 11 is provided with two sets of louvres 52 and 53 positioned respectively -adjacent the outlet opening 48 in the condenser coil casing 47 and the fan 50 and inlet opening 49 of the condenser casing 47, If desired the fan 50 may be surrounded by,
a perforated housing 54 provided with a plurality of air inlet openings 55 and an' elongated opening 56 for the passage of the shaft 51 during the transverse movement thereof.
It will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art that the particular embodiment of my invention herein disclosed may be readily changed and modified without departing from the spirit of my invention or sacrificing the advantages thereof and it will therefore be understood that the disclosure herein is illustrative only and my invention not limited thereto.
