Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANK HENRY, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN TUCK-MARKERS.
Specification forming part of Lett rs Patent No. 152,948, dated July 14, 1 174 application filed April 11,1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, FRANK HENRY, of the city and county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Tuck-Markers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a clear and exact description of the nature thereof, sufficient to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to fully understand, make, and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which the figureis a top view of the device embodying my invention, which consists of a tuck-marker, whose bed-plate will be held at both sides or ends, and is adjustable to the screw-holes in the various sewing-machines.
Referring to the drawings, A represents a tuck-marker, and B the bed plate thereof. An eye, slot, or groove, 0, is formed transversely on or in the plate B, and to the latter is jointed a plate, D, which has a transverse movement thereon. G represents a slotted arm or gage, one end of which is jointed to the plate D, and bears thereon. G represents a similar arm or gage, which is jointed to the side of the plate opposite to that having the plate D jointed thereto.
It will be seen that the setscrew, illustrated in dotted lines, is adapted to pass through the two gages, and enter the screw-hole or opening in the clothplate regardless of the loca tion thereof in the different sewing-machines, the adjustment of the bed-plate being permitted in lines longitudinal, diagonal or radial, and transverse. Moreover, the two sides or ends of the bed-plate are held firmly in position, and thus the tuck-marker is prevented from rising from its location on the cloth-plate.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination, with the tuck-marker A, of the bed-plate B, having at one side a transverse sliding plate, D, a slotted gage, G, pivoted to said plate D, and a slotted gage, G, pivoted to the other side of the plate B, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
lVitnesses: FRANK HENRY.
