Description

March l0, 1925.
H. P. DEN BOER STOVE Patented Mar. 10, 1925.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
Application filed March 20, 1924. Serial No. 700,668.
To all 'whom t may concer/n.'
Be it known that I, HENDRIK PIETER DEN BOER, Subject of the Queen of the Netherlands, residing at Rotterdam, Province of South-Holland, Kingdom of the Netherlands, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stoves, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to improvements in stoves and more particularly to a stove possessing the advantage, that the heat of the flue-gases is used more economically than in known stoves, so that little heat reaches the chimney and a high efficiency is obtained.
In carrying out the invention the stove is furnished with a core of refractory brick within a shell, said core extending to the bottom of the lire-space, whilst the part above the charge-opening or openings of the stove occupies nearly the whole space within the shell, said part being provided with one or a plurality of parallel passages for the flue-gases. After lighting the fuel the core will accumulate quickly a large quantity of heat,` which otherwise would be lost in the chimney. The flue-gases come in contact with the upper part of the core and are obliged to follow the passages in that part before reaching the chimney. In this way all heat generated will be usefully employed, the emission of heat lasting a long time after the fire in the grate has been eX- tinguished.
The accompanying drawing illustrates a construction according to the invention.
Fig. l is a longitudinal section of the stove.
Fig. 2 is an elevation, whilst Figs. 3 and Y 4 are cross-sections on lines III-III and yreaching the chimney 9. In the construction shown two openings 9 are shown in order to enable the stove to be joined in two ways to the chimney. Besides leading the flue-gases between the circumference of the upper part 2 ofthe core and the outer shell 3 of the stove one or more parallel passages may be provided in the core in a longitudinal direction between the spacing bricks 6.
What I claim is:
l. In combination in a stove, a shell having an outlet opening at one end and an inlet at the opposite end, and a continuously solid refractory core within said shell and extending from end to end thereof and so spaced from said shell throughout its entire length as to provide a fire place between said shell and core and a flue leading therefrom to the aforesaid outlet opening.
2. In combination in a stove, a shell having an outlet opening at one end and an inlet opening at the opposite end, said shell being of increased cross-sectional area for a distance around the inlet end, and a continuously solid refractory core concentrically mounted within said shell and eXtend- HENDRIK PIETER DEN BOER.
