Be it known that I, Vnanxn N. Srnnus, a citizen of the Unitet States. and a resident of Greenwood, county of Johnson, and State of Indiana,'have invented a certain new and useful Telephone Connection; and T do hereby declare that the following is a full.

clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which like numerals refer to like parts.

This invention relates to a. V telephone connection and particularly the plug and the terminal arrangement associated therewith.

The chief object of the invention is to provide a telephone connection which includes a plug for simultaneously closing a circuit through two separated terminals and for providing an adjustable normally open cir cuit which is grounded for protective purposes.

The chief feature of the invention consists in the particular construction of the connectand another feature of the invention consists in the arrangementand mounting of the terminals ensageable by said plug.

The full nature of the invention will be understood from the accompanying draw ings and the following description and claims:

In the drawings, Fig. 1 is a front elevational view or the aforesaid connection in cluding the lug and terminals and the 2 is a side elevational view thereof. Fig. 3 is a front elevational view of the terminal plug. Fig. 4 is a side elevational view thereof.

In the drawings indicates a suitable post, standard, support or building side. Suitably mounted thereon, as by means of the screws 11 and spacers or insulated bushings 12 is a supporting plate 13. Said plate carries an open-work housing or protective covering indicated generally by the numeral 14, the sides of which are apertured as at 15 to provide a pair of openings in alignment with each other. The backplate 13 is also apertured as at 16 and securely mounted therein is a forwardly projecting pin 17 which is connected upon the rear of the backplate 13 to a grounded current conduc tor or ground wire 18. Positioned in each of the openings 15 are a pair of identical but oppositely positioned insulated bushings 19 which insulate a pair of L-shaped terminal bolts 20 having the angular ends 21 from the housing or sides and which are adjustably supported thereby, by means of the nuts 22. Each L-shaped terminal bolt is connected to a current conducting line means of another nut 24.. Thus, the current carrying lines are brought into the housing from opposite directions. As shown clearly in Figs. 1 and 2. an insulation plate 25 is socketed as at 26. and chored by said sockets are the angular ends 21 of the L-shaped terminals 20. Said plate is suitably secured to the backplate 13 as shown in Fig. 1. From the foregoing, therefore, three parallel contact or cylindrical surfaces arranged triangularly with respect to each other.

Reference will now be had to Figs. 3 and 41, wherein the plug portion of the connection 75 1s particularly illustrated. In this form of the invention there is provided an insulated handle which supports a protective conduit 31 or equivalent construction carrying the current conductin wires 32. tioned within the tubular handle 30 is an insulation base 33 which may be formed in any desired manner. and herein is illustrated as of a single piece provided with a longitudinally extending slot 34 which extends 85 but partially through the same. This construction is a spring contact member 46 having an angular curved extension 47' adapted to bear upon the inner surface of the angular extension 21 of the terminal 20. The spring clips 46 are suitably-securedi'to the insulation'base or block 33 by suitable means such as the screws L9. The invention claimed is 1. In a: telephone connection, the combination of a pair of L-shaped terminal bolts positioned with their angular extensions in parallel relation andtheir body portions extending. in opposite directions, and a third terminal member positioned intermediate the angular extensions and parallel thereto.

A telephone-connection 'plugincluding a pair of longitudinally extending oppositely positioned diverging terminal members, and alongitudinal!grounding connection positioned midway therebetween and comprising a pair of inwardly directed members normally separable when in current conducting position.
