LSZtZZtttl ARMIN BORZSONY, OF Nil-f YQRK, N. Y.
I LOUD SPEAKER.
Application filed June 9,
Be it known that I: Anon: Bonn-WY. a citizeno'l the l'nitc'l F ta es. and a resident of the l'roroa h f, .llanlrittan. city. coimty and Fltat'c o. N w York. li ai'rinvented ccrtain new and n cl'ul improvements in llond Speakers. set forth in the following specification.
=This ii'ivention relates to telephonic receivers ot the loud speaker type. and more. particularly is applied to apparatus of this character, which is particularly adapted tor use in the reception of radio telephony.
The object of the invention is to construct a loud speaker of simple eflicient construc tion which will coordinate a permanent magnet with the armature and the sound box in an improved manner.
The above and further objects of the invention will better be understood by reference to the illustrative embodiments described in the following specification and shown in the accompanying: drawings solely for purpose. of" illustrating: the claims which are directed to these embodiments solely for the purpose of illustration and not limitation. v
Inthe drawings. Fig. 1 is a vertical section partly diagran'imatie of the inverted apparatus.
Fig. 2 is a hot-tom plan View.
Fig. 3 is a detail section, parts shown in elevation and all drawn to an enlarged scale of the armature; and core construction, and
Fig. 4- is a View similar to Fig.5. 3, show-- ing a nmditication.
Fig. 5 discloses av modification of the fastening means.
A sound box A of: any approved construc tion, providing the sound duct 1, adapted to be connected with any an'iplificr. such as a horn. is circular in construction and mounts the usual diaphrau'n'i 2. The diaphragm 2 is S()ltl'l(l-lllF-ittlttt((l opposite rubber gaskets 3 and 4. the flanged ring; 5 hcinp; secured to the plate (3 in any approved manner.
A permanent magnet ll comm-iscs an open rine-raliarwrl port on '7 cn'ilnacinaand mountting the sound box A. in the mbodiment illus rated. screws 8 pass throuph suitable perforati ns in the portion 7 and have screwthrcad l eun e 'rmcnt with the sound box wall 0. tlltil' lgh it is cont'enn'ilatcd that the same screws might he threaded into the permanent magnet and operate as set screws with their noses jamming against the sound 1923. Serial No. 644,436.
box 9. Such construction is shown in Figure 7 in which the set screws 8' adjustably hold the permanent lllilg'llitand the associated electroiuagg'nctic means relatively to the -s und box it and arn'iature C by jamming to mount the usual coils 1 1 and 15. If desired, these cores. instead of being L-shapedl may be substantially U-shapcd as indicated. for the cores 12 and 13 of Fig. 4 and be adjustably secured to the poles 10 and 11 by screws 16 and 17 Working in slots 18 and 19. The shoulders 20 and 21 serve to maintain the upright position of the cores 12' and 13'.
In fact, for some purposes, the configure tion of the permanent magnet construction ilhue-trated is not essential although convenient in rendering the construction compact; likewise in connection with the armature lever which is shown with an approximate 3 to 1 ratio of movement amplification from the armature to the diaphragm. It is to he understood that this leverage ratio may be modified to accommodate varying conditions. The mac-net I) may be laminated or in sections.
The arimitnrc (l is arranged to overlie the core tips of the eoreslQ and 13 or 12 and 13 and may he adjustahly mounted by the stem E23 and set screw 24: in one end of the 't'ulerumed amplifying lever 25, the other end 26 of which is attached in an approved manner to the diaphragm 2.
The fulcrum for the lever 25 may be mounted conveniently between the permanent n'iag'net poles 1C and 11 and as shown comprising a pair of brackets 30 and 31, carrying the adjustable trunnion screws 32 and 33.
The inventive thought may have a Variety of expressions as is contemplated in what 1 claim and desi e to secure by United States Letters Patent as follows:
