Of course, in view of the differences in diameters of said grooves 25 and 26; they extend in unsymmetrical relation with said block 21, and the lugs 28, formed between said grooves, are in corresponding unsymmetrical relation with said block. That is to say, my block 21 is distinguished from certain prior art structures in that the elements of form thereof upon one side of the median longitudinal plane indicated at III, III in Fig. I have no corresponding elements upon the opposite side of said planeupon one continued perpendicular to that plane and at the same distance from it; the latter being character- 'istic ofv thesymmetrical structures of the prior art. Said lugs 28 have plane faces, 29 and 30 respectively parallel with, and merging into, said grooves25 and 26. The U-bolt 32 is adapted to extend through said bolt holes 22 and 23, with its bight 33 crossing both said grooves, and has each of its ends screw threaded for engagement with respective nuts 35; whereby the wires or cables 36 and 37 may be clamped in transverse relation with each other, with said bolt and wires held against displacement between said lug faces 29 and 30.
Moreover, it is to be understood that a plurality of wires, of suitable size, may be clamped in parallel relation in any of said grooves.
Moreoverit is to be understood that I may use a bolt of J-shape and do not desire to limit myself to the described shapes or dimensions or to any other specific details of construction and arrangement herein set forth, as it is obvious that various modifications may be made therein without departing from the essential features of my invention, as defined in the appended claims.
I claim:
1. In a wire clamp; the combination with a metal block of elliptical configuration having two bolt holes extending through it intersecting its major axis, and two grooves extending in transverse relation to each other in said block, to different depths therein, between said bolt holes; the deeper groove being of larger diameter than the other groove; sald grooves belng at right angles to each other but in said block; one of said grooves extending at an obtuse angle to said major axis, and the other of said grooves extending at an acute angle to said axis; lugs upon respectively opposite sides of said grooves, a U-bolt adapted to extend through said bolt holes; with its bight crossing both said grooves, and. having each of its ends screw threaded; and nuts adapted to respectively engage said bolt screw threads; whereby two wires, of respectively different diameters, may be clamped together in transi,523,1si
verse relation to each other, by tightening said nuts.

5. In a wire clamp; the combination with a metal block having a bolt hole extending through it, and two grooves extending in transverse relation to each other in said block, to diiferent depths therein; the deeper groove being of larger diameter than the other groove; lugs upon respectively oppoi site sides of said grooves; a bolt adapted to extend through said bolt hole, and crossing both said grooves; and a nut adapted to en gagesaid bolt; whereby 'wires may be clamped together in transverse relation-to each other.
