PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES MONTALBANO, F BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
TOY.
Application file-d January 20, 1923.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, CHARLES MONTALBANO,
a citizen of the United States, residing in the city of Brooklyn and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Toys, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention pertains to toys, and the object is to provide a shooting toy or game in a simple and entertaining form.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the two target figures of the boats standing upright.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of a portion of the gallery showing the two target figures shot down.
Figure 3 is a frontal elevation, showing the two target figures raised.
The invention consists of a small gallery 1, at one end of which i mounted a toy cannon 2 pivoted at the base 3 for turning in a horizontal plane, and pivoted at 4 to its carriage 5 for turning in a vertical plane. The bore 6 of the barrel 7 is fitted with a plunger 8 which extends out rearwardly and ends in a finger piece 9. This plunger 8 is normally held forwardly in the bore 6 by :10 means of a coil spring 10 encircling the plunger and braced between the breech of the barrel and the forward end of the plunger. A ball 11 is provided for shooting from the cannon, this act being accomplished by inserting the ball 11 in the bore 6 of the cannon and at the same time drawing back the plunger 8 by means of the finger piece 9 and then suddenly releasing the plunger against the ball, thus firing the latter from the cannon. Nothing new is claimed for any of these elements.
Serial No. 614,032.
The novel feature of the invention is claimed to reside in the provision, mounting and method of play in regard to the two target figures 12 and 13 of two boats or 4 ships. These two figures are hinged at 14; at the opposite end of the gallery 1 from the cannon 2, and on a base 15 which may be painted to represent an ocean of water. These figures 12 and 18 are mounted side by side, and each is provided with a small laterally extending stud 16 and 17 projecting centrally together but not quite meeting. The figures may be raised to upright posi tion for shooting at as shown in Figure 1. and are adapted through their hinged mounting to fall over backward when struck by the ball 11.
The object of the game is that the player shoot the ball 11 so as to strike both of the studs 16 and 17 at once, thus knocking down both of the figures. The player first doing this wins the game. Qther figures may be substituted in lieu of the boats if desired.
While I have herein described a certain specific method of constructing and assembling the elements of my invention, it is understood same may be varied in minor details, not departing from the spirit of my invention as defined in the appended claim. T
I claim:
In a pair of target figures hingedly mounted from their bases, studs extending laterally from the figures at their adjacent sides, and so adapted to be simultaneously 7- impinged by a projectile.
CHARLES MONTALBANO. Witnesses 1 PETER ARAULO, JAMES Mnrro.
