GAME BOARD.

citizen of the'United States, and resident of Fresno, in the county of Fresno, State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Game Boards,'of

which the following is a specification.

. 'My inventi0n relates primarily to a game board of a substantially rectangular shape,

although any other desired shape may be used, provided with pockets, playing discs form but that various changes and adaptations may be made therein without departin from the spirit of my invention.

In the drawings accompanying'and forming a part hereof:

Fig. 1 is a top plan of my board in position for use.

Fig. 2 is a right hand elevation of Fig. 1.

Fig. 3 is a section on the line 33 of Fig. 1.

Fig. 4 is an enlarged section on the line 4-4 of Fig. 1.

Figs. 5 and 6 are enlarged sectional details of the turn table upon which my board is mounted.

Fig. 7 is a plan view of one form of my shooter in its operative position.

Fig. 8 is a plan view of my shooter in its discharged position.

Fig. 9 is a perspective view of one of the discs used with my board.

Referring to the drawings, my device comprises a shallow, substantially rectangular, tray composed of a bottom 10 surrounded at its edges by the upstanding rim 11, the inner top edge of rim 11 being bevelled as at 12. Provided in each of the corners are pockets 13, the walls of which are lined with a shock absorbing material, such as felt, or

the like, 14, and the bottoms of which are closed by fabric closures 15. Projecting downwardly from the under side of bottom 10, centrally thereof, is a hub or boss 16,

centrally of which is revolubly mounted the turn table. This turn table is composed of

17 and 18 pivotally connectedtogether centrally of theirlength to extend at right angles to each other. As will be noted in Figs. 5 and 6,

17 and 18 are connected loosely together at their centers, the purpose of which will be hereafter eX- plained. Revolubly mounted on the ends of

17 and 18 .arerollers 19 which are'of a diameter and so positioned as to bearagainst the underside of bottom'10 and serve to support the same.

In Figs. 7 and 8 I have shown one form of shooter adapted for use with my device. This form comprises a hollow cylindrical handle 20 closed at one end. Sidably mounted in handle'20 is the sliding member 21, the free end of which terminates in a tip 22 of rubber or any other suitable material. Provided in handle 20, intermediate its ends, is

a slot 23 the lower end of which terminates in an oflset portion 24, and mounted in member 21, near the inner end thereof, is a retaining pin 25 the free end of which projects into and through slot 23. Mounted within handle 20, between the closed end thereof and the inner end of member 1, is a coil spring 26 by means of which member 21 is caused to move outwardly. Pin 25 is adapted to be mounted in offset 24 to hold member .21 in its retracted or operative position.

In Fig. 9 I have shown one of the discs used with my game board which is normally formed of hard wood or other semiresilient material.

In the use of my game board a shooter disc is used with the sho,oter,the object being to strike the shooter disc with the shooter and.

- of the pockets 13, the turn table being provided' so that the players may rotate the table to bring the shooter disc into proper position to play on, thus obviating the necessity of walking around the board.

Having described my invention what I claim is:

1. A game board comprising a substantially rect ngular base; an upstanding rim surrounding said base; an inwardly opening recess in each of the corners of said base the recesses in the opposed corners opening towards each other; an opening in said base immediately below each of said recesses; a flexible closure for the under sides of each of said openings; a disc secured to the under side of said base centrally thereof l1av-v tion with a turn table upon which said base A is mounted comprising a pair of arms rigidly connected together centrally of their length to extend at right angles to each other; a pivot extending upwardly centrally of said arms adapted for engagement with the open ing in said disc; a roller revolubly mounted on each end of each of said arms at right angles thereto adapted to bear against the under side of said base.

2. In a game board the combination of a substantially rectangular base; an upstanding rim surrounding said base; an inwardly opening recess in each of the corners of said base, opening radially; openings in said base immediately below each of said recesses and being of a configuration to form a continuation thereof; a fabric closure for the lower ends of said openings; a shock-absorbing lining for the side walls of said recesses; a bearing extending downwardly from said base centrally thereof; in combination with a turn table upon which said base is revolubly mounted comprising a pair of arms rigidly connected together centrally of their length to extend at right angles to each other adapted to rest upon a stationary sup; port; a pivot extending upwardly from said arms centrally thereof adapted to be revo lubly mounted in said bearing; and a roller revolubly mounted on each end of said arms at right angles thereto, adapted to bear against the under side of said base.
