Description
Nrrnn rrefr STEPHEN OLONEN AND ANTHONY MOLL, OF BUFFALO, NEW YORK, ASSIGNORS TO ANTHONY MOLL, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT lN BABY-WALKERS.
Speciticrrtion formingpart of Letters Patent No. iih, dated Mrjv 5, l'i; ayplicaicn iiled September 26, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, STEPHEN GLONEN and ANTHONY MoLL, both of the city of Butt-alo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Baby- NVallter; and we do herebjT declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description ot' the same, referenccbeing had to the accompanyin g drawing, in which- Figure I is a perspective view of our mproved machine. Fig. Il is anv enlarged perspective view ot' the under side of the slide, in which the child is secured. Fig. III is a section of Fig. I. y. l
Our invention consists of a baby-walker composed of suitably-constructed frames, in which two parallel horizontal bars are secured. The ends of these bars are secured to crosspieces, to which adjustable legs are also secured. A slide suitably7 padded and made in sections properly secured together is arranged so as to be capable of being slid backward and forward over the horizontal bars. j
A A represent the parallel horizontal bars of the frame. B Bv are the end pieces to which they are secured. O C represent the adjustable legs. I) is the padded slide-board, into which the child is secured. The adjustable legs C are composed of an outer hollow leg, c, which rests upon the tloor, and has a vertical slot, c1, through which a setscrew, c2, is screwed into the inner adjustable leg, B. This construction of the legs renders the ma chine perfectly adjustable in a vertical direction. Along the upper surface of the horizontal bars A A grooves a a are formed, in which the rollers c c on the under side ot' the sliding board are guided 5 or small rails .may be arranged on the bars A and grooved or .ilanged -rollers on the sliding board D.V Swinging hooks or brackets ot' iron, b b, are arranged on the under side of' the sliding.;l board D, which are arranged to turnV under the parallel bars A A, t-o hold the board l) from being lifted therefrom. The slide-boardl D is made in t-wo halves, the division being through the hole d, in which the child is scoured, and which is properly padded to protect the child from injury. Two slotted bars, E E, are secured on the under side of one halt, and, extending under the other halt' ot' the slide, into which set-screws c e are screwed through the slots, forni a convenient arrangement by which the hole in the slide is enlarged or contracted to remove and secure a child.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. A baby-walker composed of two horizontal parallel bars, supported in a vcrticall 'ad instable frame, and a slide-board, into which the child is secured, said slide-board` being moved forward and backward over the parallel bars by the childs efforts to walk.
2. A baby-walker the slide-board I) ot' which is composed ot' two halves, secured together by slotted bars E E and set-screws c c, or their equivalents, substantially as and for the purpose set forth. 3. The adjustable legs O B', in combination with the frame B B and horizontal parallel bars A A, as shown and described.
