Be it known that I, .Ai/'Enr E. BLAYLOCK, a citizen of the United States of America, and resident of Little Rock, in the county of Pulaski and State of Arkansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Signal Systems for Railway Cars, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a safety' signal system and attachment adapted to be employed on hand cars or gasoline motor cars used on railroads equipped with an electrical block system of either the charged Itrack section, or bonded rail type. Y l
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a system of circuits including magnets, an armature, a buzzer, and local batteries, adapted to be interchange,- ably used on either a hand ycar or gasoline motor car, in which when used on a Ymotor car, the engine circuit is included, so that when a train enters the blockoccupied by the car, the engine circuit will be broken stopping the car, andthe buzzer will` sound a warning in either case. y
Another Objectis to provide, in a system of this character, means for rendering the system inoperative without interfering with the engine circuit included therein, when it is desired to use a motor car to trail other cars through the block.
A further object is to provide, in a system of this character, means for testing the system irrespective of thel type of blockV signal system in connection with which the, car is operated.
With these, and such other objectsin view as will be apparent from therdescription, my invention resides in the novel construction, combination, and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which;

In detail, the invention comprises a car 1 which may be of any preferred type of hand or motor operated, provided with wheels 2 insulated from the axles 3 by means of insulating rings 4;, to prevent a short circuit across the rails 5. In this system, the switches O, P and R are closed, leaving all others open.
