To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, BENJAMIN H. MGDUF- Fre, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Faucets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to faucets.
More particularly theinvention relates to faucets for controlling and regulating the flows of different kinds of liquids which enter the device through different inlets and pass out from the device through the same outlet.
Some of the objects of the present invention are: to produce a faucet which may be connected to urns containing coliee and milk respectively, and with which the coee and milk maybe drawn from the urns in proper proportion by manipulating a part thereof with the vessel or container to be filled; to produce a faucet including valve members which are connected to a manipulator by the use of a jointed connection; to provide a` faucet with a casing having a plurality of chambers, an inlet communicating with each chamber, an outlet communicating with each chamber, and valve means between the chambers and the outlet for controlling the low of liquids from the chambers. With these and other objects in view the invention resides in the particular provision, combinationV and relative arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described and Villustrated in the accompanying drawing, in
which:
Figure 1 is a central vertical sectional view through the faucet of the present invention.
Figure 2 is a plan view of the faucet with the cover section and the cleaning plug removed.
Figure 3 is a perspective view 0f the valve members and the manipulator connected thereto detached from the faucet.
Figure 4 is a detail side elevation of the lower end of the faucet.
Figures 5 and 6 are perspective views of parts of the faucet detached therefrom.
Referring now more particularly to the drawing for details of the faucet of the present invention, it will be manifest that the same includes, a casing 10 having a cover section 11, which may be screwed onto the same. The casing 10 is formed with angularly disposed walls 12 and 13 to dene chambers 14 and 15. An inlet 16 communicates with the chamber 14. An outlet 17 of the casing 10 communicates with the chambers 14 and 15 through passages 18 and 19 in the partition 20 which is disposed between the chambers 14 and 15 and the outlet` 17.
The cover section 11 h as formed therewith or connected thereto an inlet extension 21 which is adapted to be preferably connected to an urn having preferably milk therein.
Valve means is employed whereby the coee and milk may be allowed to flow or may be stopped from flowing at will. The flow of the coee and milk is simultaneous lin proper proportion, and the flow of the liquids is stoppedY automatically and simultaneously. The said valve means includes the passages 18 and 19. The passage 18, as shown, is larger than the passage '19 because coffee will pass through the passage 18, and ofcourse more coffee is ordinarily desired than milk which passes through the smaller passage .19. A valve seat 23`is formed at the passage 18on the partitiony 20,
and a seat 24 is formed at the passage 19 on the said partition on the ltop side thereof. valve members 25 and 26 are adapted to coact with the seats 23 and 24 respectively.
vThe members 25 and 26 are connected to a manipulator 27. The member 25 is preferablyconnected to the manipulatorl 27 bythe use of a part 28 formed on the manipulator The inlet 16 is 27, the said part 28 is screw threaded, and
ymilk. The manipulator moves in guide ways 31 in an annular member 32 detachably secured to the outlet end 33 of the casing 10, by a set screw 34 and a pin 35. The upper end of the member 32 has bayonet slots 36 for the reception of the screw 34 and the pin 35. A11 annular member 37 surrounds the member 82 and is held in place thereon by a flange 38. The member 37 is cut away as at 39 at diametrically opposite points to provide shoulders 4:0 upon which the ends ell of the manipulator 27 are adapted to rest when a continuous flow of the liquids is desired. The member 87 is movably and detachably related to the member A linger piece 42 is secured to the member S7 to facilitate the movement of the said member in bringing the shoulders l0 into and out of the path of movement of the ends ,-ll.
From the foregoing it should be manifest that, the device of the present invention is in fact a duplex faucet; duplex in the sense that it may be connected to two different sources of supplies of different liquids; that the liquids may be received by the faucet and may flow therefrom together in one stream in the desired proportion. lt should also be manifest that the employment of the jointed connection between the manipulator 27 and the valve member 26, permits both of the members 25 and 26 to automatically and readily seat themselves, and furthermore, it allows drinking vessels such as cups and glasses to be brought into engagement with the manipulator for the filling operation without unnecessary breaking of such vessels.

l. A faucet comprising casing having inlets and an outlet, and valve-means between the inlets and the outlet, said valvemeans including seats and gravitative members which coact with the seats, and a manipulator connected to and suspending from said gravitative members.
2. A faucet comprising a casing having chambers therein and inlets communicating with said chambers, and an outlet communicating with said chambers; and valvemeans between the chambers and the outlet, said valve-means including seats and gravitative members which coact with said seats, and a manipulator connected to and suspending from said gravitative members.
8. A faucet comprising a casing having a valve controlled inlet and an outlet, valvemeans between the inlet and the outlet, said valve-means including a` seat and a gravitativer member adapted to coact with said seat, a manipulator, and a jointed connection connecting said member with said manipulator.
4;. A faucet comprising a sectional casing having inlets and an outlet; valve-means between the inlets and the outlet, said valvemeans including seats, gravitative members which coact with said seats, a manipulator connected to and suspending from said members and one of said members having jointed connection with said manipulator; and means for holding the members olf of said seats.
5. A faucet comprising a sectional casing having chambers therein, an inlet communicating with each chamber, and an outlet col'i'iniunicating with each chamber; valvemeans between the chambers and the outlet, said valve-means including seats, gravitative globular members adapted to coact with said seats, and an oscillatory manipulator connectedto said gravitative globular members.
6. A. faucet including a casing having a cover section, an inlet in the casing and one in thel cover section, and an outlet in the casing; valve-means between the inlets and the outlet, said valve-means including seats and gravitative members which coact with the seats; means connected to the gravitative members for lifting the. same, and means for holding the gravitative members off of the seats.
.a .faucet including a casing having chambers therein, an inlet in communication with each chamber, and an outlet in communication with each of said chambers, valve-means including a partition between the outlet and the inlets, seats formed on the partition, passages in the partition opening to the chambers and the outlet, gravitative members which coact with the seats to open and close said passages, an oscillatory manipulator connected to said gravitative members, the said lift members normally seating themselves on said seats; and means for holding the gravitative members off of said seats.
8. A faucet including a sectional casing having inlets and an outlet; valve-means including a partition between the inlets and the outlet and having passages therein, seats on the partition, gravitative members which coact with said seats for opening and closing said passages, and a horizontally disposed manipulator connected to said gravitative members for lifting the same and having Ycompound movement; and means for preventing rotation of said manipulator.
