residing at Detroit, in the county of Wayne 5 and State of Michi an, have invented certain new and usefu Improvements in Reversible Disk Wheels, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings. A
The invention relates to vehicle wheels of the dished disk type. In the present state of the art it is usual to secure the disk to the hub with the dish on the outer side. The tire-holding rim issecured to the periphery of the disk but instead of the pointof attachment being at the center of the rim -itis forward of the center so that the body of the disk crosses the central plane of impact. Such av construction has various advantages but there is the disadvantage of locating the tire iniiation tube back of the disk, where it is not as readily accessible. Therefore, for certain uses the outward dishing of the disk is not as desirable as the reverse arrangement or inner dishing. It is not, however, possible to reverse the disk in this engagement with the hub for the reason that this would change the tread of the wheel to a .different distance from the center of the vehicle.
.It is the object of the present invention to provide a construction of disked wheel which is reversible so that the advantages of the outward dishing may be utilized wherever possible, but for certain uses they may be dispensedr with to secure theadvantages of the inner dishing. .It is also an object to permit of thus reversing the disk without any change in the tread of the wheel, and still further to provide for the mounting of such reversible disks on hubs designed for use with non-reversible disks. The invention therefore comprises the novel features.

\ With the modifications in construction just described the wheel is adapted to be mounted alternatively in reverse position without changing the line of tread. Thus, as shown in Figure 1, the dish is outward, meaning by this that the periphery of the disk is outward from the plane of im act. If, however, it is desired to mount t e wheel in reverse position sogas to provide more ready access to the tire tube or for any other purpose, the disk may be removed and reversed without changing the line of tread, this arere the hub is built to e used exclusively with the type of wheel above described, instead of arranging the flange F inside of the plane of impact it may be arranged as shown in Figure 3, in which F is a flange having its outer face adjacent to the plane of impact 'and against which the disk is directly clamped. Thebrakedrum is secured upon the opposite side of this iange and a detachable ring J is en aged with the studs on the disk side, icing clamped in position by the nuts H. To
change the position ofY the wheel it is only necessary to remove the nuts H, detach and reverse the disk and re-clamp the same.
What I claim as my invention is 1. The combination of a wheel hub having an outwardly extending fiange adjacent to the central plane of impact and a demountable wheel comprising a dished disk, the central ortion of said disk being also arranged 1n the central plane of impact, and means for clamping said disk to said ange alternatively in reverse positions.
2. The combination with a wheel hub having a ange lextending from the periphery thereof, of a demountable wheel comprisin a dished disk, the central portion of sai disk being arranged adjacent to the central plane of impact of the wheel, and co-operating studs and clamping nuts for engaging and' securing said disk 1n reverse positions upon said hub.

The combination with a wheel hub yhaving a ange extending from the periphery, of a demountable wheell comprising a dished disk and a tire-en aging rim secured to the periphery thereo the proportions being such that the rim will'be located the same in reverse xositions on said wheel and with the disk adjacent to said ange, and clamping Lacasse ranged Von one side thereof and said brakev drum on the opposite side, and means for clamping said disk to said bearing in either one of its reverse positions.
5. A demountable wheel, comprising a tire-engaging rim and a dished disk having its peripheral portion opposite to said rim on one side of the plane of impact, the center portion of the disk being arranged substantially in the plane of impact, and means for clamping said disk to said hub alternatively in reverse positions.
6. In combination with a hub provided with a angesubstantially offset from the plane of the center of the tread of the wheel, a disk wheel adapted to seat upon the hub and reversible, a spacer between the wheel and the hub flange to allow the wheel to be reversed without changing the Wheel gauge, and means for securing the wheel upon the hub.
