To all '1o/10m. vit may concern.'
Be it known that l, En'wann H. Fluorinr, a citizen of the United States, and resident of St. Louis, Missouri, have invented cer- 5 tain new and useful Improvements in y Crushers, of which the following is a speeltication.
. rlhis invention relates to improvements in Crushers, and has tor its object an outer 10 casing in which is axially mounted a haar mer 4head provided with a plurality of pivotally mounted hammers, a hingedly mounted Crusher head and a means Jfor adjusting the position of the Crusher head from the l5 exterior' of the machine frame.
` The essential feature of my invention in this construction o'pcrusher is to provide an improvement in the method of adjusting a hingedly mounted crusherhead so arl0 ranged that it may he brought in the peripheral radius of the rotating hammers.
Figure 1, is a side elevation of my Iinvention.
Fig. 2, is a central sectional view of the same.
Fig. 3, is a rear view of the machine. Fig. 4:, is a rear perspective view of one of the-adjusting members made use of for manipulating the Crusher head.
il@ "Fig 5, is a rear sectional View of a part of the hammer head and the hammers cairied thereby.
In the general structure of my invention I provide a suitable frame or housing 6 consisting of side Walls 7 and 8, a front wall 9, a back wall 10, a top 11 and'on the top is located a hopper 12 through which the material is fed into the machine. Through the side Walls 7 and '8 is placed a shaft 13, thisshaft is supported in suitable hearings 14 and on one end of the shaft is a driving pulley l5 and-on the other end ra ly wheel or like device 16. On the shaft and inside the casing is 45,/ keyed a hammerhead 17 which is provided with a plurality of circumferential grooves 18 and in these grooves are hingedly supported hammers 19, these hammers are he d in hinged position by means of pins 2O extendin' through apertures 21 formed in the headl and these apertures are arranged at suitable intervals apart and each located a slightiinlreased distance away from the center so t at the heads can he adjusted -from aperture to aperture as the contacting Athe same become worn 'to such degree that it is necessary to replace the they l@ can he removed and new ones replaced. i
lthrough the rihs 2e is placed. a support4 ing or hinged shaft 28, this shaft. also passes through the side 'walls 7 and 8 of the frame and holds the Crusher head in hinged. position in the opening 23. The ribs aremalso provided near the bottom end with elon gated openings 2Q and in the Walls 7 and il, and in alignment withV the openings 29 is formed elongated openings 30, these open ings are shown by dotted lines in Figi. 2. Through the openings 9,9 and 3G is placed a shaft 31 and cn the ends of the shaftand Y on the outside of the side Walls 7 and 8 is attached the adjusting rods 32, these :ods consist 'preferably of a rounded shank 35 having its end provided with screw-threads 34, the opposite end is flattened as that. in dicated by the numeral 35 and provided with perforations 36 which tit over the pr@ jecting end of the shaft 31. These adjust ing rods are held in position hy the nuts' 37 and the round shank 33 is supported in and passed through openings formed in the side frame 38 and the adjustment oit the head is controlled hy the manipulation et the nuts 39 located on the screw-threaded end 34 of the shank..
By the use of the adjustable rods the hingedly mounted Crusher head can oe readm@ ily and easily adjusted so as to regulate the n grade of crushing, and also to take up'the Wear of the blocks carried hy the head, and
'by this arrangement the position of the velongntec't slots therein,
'said side frames, whereby the zidjustahie Crusher head so arranged es 's h2 adjusted from the outside o the my chine thus avoiding the necessityof stopping the opeiation o the machine during its adjustment.
Having fuiiy 'l claim is:
l. A erushei of the character described, comprising a housing having side Walls and side frames' thereorya hingedly mounted erusher head supported in said housing, reinforcing Iritos at the deseribed'mxff invention what a sha-ft mounted in. said elongated opening and' passing through correspondingly elongated' oeningsin said side walls, and adinet-ing ars associated with suidshst and, adapted for- 1ongitudi-- nzilmovexnent, saidadgnsting .bars being limited in theiiwlongitudinsi movement'by the' ei'usher head "may he 'adjusted at various angles. 5
2.- A Crusher of rem thereof Yhavingv the chereeter described,
eompiising e housing having side Wells and side frames therefor, ev hin edlj/ mounted Crusher head supported in said housing, Tein-'orcing ribs at the rem' thereof having elongated slots therein, a shaft mounted in said elongated opening and passing through correspondingly elongated openings in sold side walls, (1nd adjusting bers associated with said shaft and adapted for longitudinal movement, said adiusting hars being mounted on the outside of said housin'gand having one of the ends threaded. and s. nut on seid threaded ends sind eoacting with said side frame, whereby the longitudinal move-- ment of said adjusting bars is cont-foiled.
1n testimony whereof, I have signed .my name to this specification', in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
