HENRY X. WIRIGHT, OF MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE, ASSIGNOR OE ONEHALE TO JAMES D. WRIGHT, OE BERGEN, NEW JERSEY.
IMPROVEMENT IN BURGLAR-ALARMS.
Specific-ation forming part of Letters Patent No. 149,365, dated April 7, 1874 application led June 26, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY X. WRIGHT, of the city of Memphis, county of Shelby and State of Tennessee, have invented certain Iniprovements in Burglar-Alarms, of which the following is a specification:
The object ot' my invention is to provide a burglar and re alarm which shall be simple in construction, cheaply manufactured, and not liable to get out of order. My invention con- I sists in certain details of construction, iirst described, and afterward pointed out in the claim.
In order more fully to describe my invention, I refer to the accompanying` drawing forming a part of this specification.
Figure I is a plan view of a metallic box e1n bodying my invention. Fig. II is a sectional view through line x a", Fig. I.
A is the box; B, the burglar-alarm; C, the partition in box A, having opening a; D, the slide, fastened to rods c and d; c, the paper1` holder, with sand-paper s; E, the spring; E, the trigger; G, the top of box A, having' air-holes ff, match-holes g g, and slide h. The box A has extending through its sides the rods c and d, fastened to the slide D. On one side of the box the spring E is fastened, which presses the rods and slide toward the other side.
The
longer rod being forced inward, the outer end of the shorter rod is pressed against the trigger E, placed 011 the opposite side of the box. A piece of sand-paper is fastened to the slide D by the holder c. Above the slide is a metallic partition, with an opening in the center.
The top G of the box is perforated with holes, the center holes, g g, serving to hold matches, by the aid of the slide h, and the others, ff, to admit air.
Vhen the trigger is pulled, a Vm atch is lighted by the friction of the sand-paper on the slide D, which ignites the Ere-crackers in the inner portion of the box through the opening a. This trigger is connected with a burglar-alarm placed in the lower part of the box A, and causes the alarm to operate at the same time the fire-crackers are ignited.
Having thus described my invention, I claim- Box A, with cover' G and partition C, having opening a, slide D, attached to rods c and d, spring E, and trigger F, in combination with burglar-alarm B, substantially as and for the purposes hereinbeforc set forth.
