Description

April 29, 1924.
C. L." MARTI TUNING COIL Filed Dec. 1. 1922 Patented Apr. 29 1924.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES LOUIS MAB/TI, OF EAST ORANGE, NEW JERSEY, ASSIGNOR T MARTIAN MANUFACTURING CO'., INC., OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, A CORPORATION OF NEW JERSEY.
TUNING COIL.
Application filed December 1, 1922.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLns LOU1s MARTI, a citizen of the Republic of Switzerland, and a resident of the city of East Orange,
5 county of Essex, and State of New Jersey,
have invented a new and useful Improvement in Tuning Coils, of which the following is a specification. 1
v The object of my invention is to afford a support of adjustable length upon which operates the means employed for contact with the tuning coil, enabling it to fit various lengths of tuning coils without requiring it to be specially fitted.
I accomplish my results as follows:
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal elevation of a tuning coil embodying my improvement and Fig. 2 a cross section thereof. To posts a are fastened coiled springs b, on which slides crosspiece 0, containing the screw d, the point e of which contacts with the tuning coil.
It will be seen that the coiled springs may be readily stretched to span the length of 2 the tuning coil. I preferably employ the Serial No. 604,424.
coiled springs to afford the adjustable support, though other adjustable means may be provided. The coiled springs also permit of lateral as well as longitudinal movement of the contact element, allowing of a wide area of contact with the tuning coil and permitting of a more sensitive adjustment of the contact point.
I claim:
1. The combination, with a tuning coil, of means of contact. with the tuning coil and an elastic support upon which the means of contact is slidably mounted.
2. The combination, with a tuning coil, of means of contact with the tuning coil and 4 an elastic support upon which the means of contact is slidably mounted, said elastic sup port permitting lateral and longitudinal movement of the contact means.
3. The combination, with a tuning coil, of 46 means of contact with the tuning coil and a coiledspring support upon which the means of contact is slidably mounted.
CHARLES LOUIS MARTI.
