UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE. g
FRANK X. J. MOFFITT, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR T GORHAM MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND, A CORPORATION 0F RHODE ISLAND.
SICK-CALL SET.
Application filed March 24, 1923. Serial No. 627,339.
To all whom t may conce/m.'
Be it known that I, FRANK X. J. MOFFITT, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sick-Call Sets, of which the following is a specifica tion.
Miy invention relates to improvements in sick call sets and more particularly to sick call sets used by the clergy of the Roman Catholic Church.
One of the objects of my invention is to provide a sick call set which will contain in compact form all of the usual necessities required in calls on the sick or the dying, in services at the grave and other solemn religious occasions. Y
A further object of this -invention is to provide these various necessities in an ornamental and separable form so that all or any of same may be carried at once as occasion requires.
Further objects of the invention will be apparent from the drawings in which,
Figure l is a vertical plan view of the assembled device,
Figure 2 is a plan view of the top thereof,
Figure 8 is a vertical sectional view of the entire device assembled,
Figure 4 is a sectional view along the line 4-4 of Figure 3,
Figure 5 is a sectional view along the line 5 5 of Figure 3,
Figure 6 is a vertical plan view showing the parts separately, and
Figure 7 is a view of the candle shown also in Figure 4.
l is a holy water container used by the priest on entering the room of a sick person. The same holy water container has other and numerous uses such as the blessing of the person at the grave, for the blessing of religious articles and otherwise. 2 desig` nates the oil container bearing the inscription 0 I in the drawing. This container holds the extreme unction oil and may be detached from 1 and separately placed upon a table. Sections 3 and 4 which are also made detachable as shown, are employed as containers for fresh and used. cotton respectively. Section 5 bearing the crucifix contains a candle 6 which is mounted on the separable base 7 so that the candle and the crucifix may be separately placed before the patient or celebrant at the same time. These various receptacles can also be employed for purposes other than the specific purposes here designated, as for instance in baptism or other particular holy days.
The attaching means being interchangeable, the separate parts such as 2, 3 and 4 may be omitted if desired so that the set may be reduced to any size or measure of compactness required.
8 designates a separable top used as a sprinkler for the holy water. 9 is a clip by which the set may be carried by the clergyman.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim is:
A sick call set comprising a plurality of parts of substantially equal diameter and including a sub-divided base portion with removable base, and a series of subdivided parts detachably and interchangeably connected with each other and with said base portion, and a detachable top with detachable sprinkler.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature.
FRANK X. J. MOFFITT.
