UNITED STATES PATENT FFICE.
vMILO J. SCOTT, OF GREENVOOD, INDIANA.
IMPROVEMENT IN NOZZLES FOR PHOTOGRAPHIC BATHS.
Specificatii n forming part of Letters Patent No. 145,512.2, data] March 10, i874; application tiled February 6, 1874.
To all whom it may concern Beit known that I, MILO J. SCOTT, of Greenwood, in the county of Johnson and Sta-te of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Photographers Baths, of which the following is a specification:
My invention relates to improvements in the glass baths used by photographers, in which the plates or negatives are immersed in a solution of nitrate of silver, Sac.; and the object of my said invention is to furnish a bath which may be emptied and cleaned without wasting any of its contents. To this end, my invention consist-s of a flexible rubber band provided with a hood and nozzle, said band f1tting any of the ordinary glass baths in use, and forming a iunnehmouth, as will be hereafter more particularly described.
In the accompanying` drawings, Figure l represents a view in perspective, and Fig. 2 a vertical section. Fig. 3 is a detached view, in perspective, of the funnel rubber hood.
The band A is made of rubber, so as to embrace the month of any ordinary conformation of glass bath B, said band being provided atone end with a protecting' hood or guard, O, and an exit-nozzle, D, therein, so as to serve as a funnel to the mouth.
The band, with its hood and nozzle, being fitted around the mouth of the bath, in emptying the same, the solution is held by the hood or guard, and passes oit' through the exit-noz zle.
I'Iithcrto there has been consideral'ile Waste by reason of the silver ruiming down the sides ot the bath, and this is entirely avoided by the use of the rubber hood or guard, and the nozzle held in place at the discharging-point by a self-adjusting band. It may be removed, cleaned, and replaced at pleasure.
I claim- As a new article of manufacture, the iiexible rubber band provided with funnel hood and nozzle, as described, and adapted for application to photographic baths, as herein specitied.
MIL() J. SCOTT.
XVitnesses G. M. D. CLARK, DAULTIN WILsoN.
