Be it known that I, ALBERT F. LIEBERENZ, a citizen of the United States, residing at South Milford, in the county of Lagrange and State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful Glare Screen and Clamp, of which the following isa specification.
It is one object of vthis invention to provide-a. simple means, adapted to be mounted on a vehicle, whereby the eyes of the driver of that vehicle will be protected from the glare cast by the lamps of other approaching vehicles.
Another object of the invention is to provide novel means whereby the device may be mounted in any desired position on the frame of a windshield of a vehicle.
I't is within the province of the disclosure to improve generally and to enhance the utility of devices of that type to which the invention appertains.
With the above and other objects in view, which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that, within the scope of what is claimed, changes in the precise embodiment;y of the invention shown can be made without departing from the spirit of the invention.

lThe d)evice includes a-clamp comprising a bod 1 which is U-shaped in plan, the body aving a longitudinal slot 2 defining side arms 3 connected by ran end piece 4, the arms terminating in hook-shaped fixed jaws 5..` A support 6, preferably in the form of a pin is mounted at its ends in the arms 3 of the body 1 and extends across` the slot 2. An operating member is mov' abl mounted in the end piece 4 of the body 1 and ma be in the form of a 'screw 1. A movablel Jaw ,8 is located in the slot 2. between the side arms 3 and is provided in one end with a concaved recess 9 coacting with the aws 5. Adjacent to the jaws 5, the movabe rjaw 8 is provided with a cross head 10. VThat end of the jaw 8 which vis remote from the jaws 5 is provided with a cross pin 11. The jaw 8 has an elongated slot 12 through which the support 6 passes. The jaw 8 can move lon ltudinally and tilt on the support 6, the tllting movement of the jaw 8 1n one direction being limited by the engagement between the cross head 10 and the outer edges ofthe arms 3 of the body 1, while the tilting movement of the jaw 8 in the opposite direction is limited by the engagement between the cross pin 11 and the lnner edges of the arms 3 of .the body 1. The cross head 10 and the cross pin 11 constitute lateral projections on the "movable jaw 8, adapted to cooperate with of the jaw 8 about the pivot element 14.
Grooves or seats 16 are fashioned in oppo site sides of the jaw 8 and communicate with the recesses 15. Each groove or seat 16 has a slanting wall 17, and an abrupt wall 18 forming a shoulder. 4
The numeral 19 denotes a frame, carrying a foraminous filler 20 which may made of netting preferably wire netting. One longitudinal rail of the frame 19 1s formed into| approximately parallel spring arms 21, terminating in eyes or. bearin 22 engagedaround the pivot element 14, the jaw 8 extending between the arms 21.
The numeral 23 marks the wind shield Y frame of a vehicle, the frame 23 carrying a pane 24. The clamp ma be mounted on any desired portion on the frame 23, the jaw 8 being advanced by the operating member 7, until'the frame 23 is clamped between the fixed jaws 5 and the movable jaw 8, the frame being 'received in the concavity 9 of the aw 8. Since the jaw 8 can tilt, as aforesai on the support 6, the jaw will adapt itself readily to windshleld frames or other supports of diierent conrations, prior to, or during advancement` o the jaw 8 by the screw.v The spring arms 22 may be` disposed in either of the seats .16, in engagement with the correspending shoulders 18, the slanting walls 17 of the grooves or seats 16 facilitating the disengagement of the arms 21 from the grooves or seats 16, when the frame 19 is swung forcibly on the pivot element 14. When the clamp 1 is mounted on the top rail of the wind shield frame 23, as shown in Figure 1, the frame 19 and the filler20 are disposed approximately at ri ht angles tothe body 1 of the clamp. hen the clamp is mounted on the side rail of the frame 23, the member 19 and the filler 20' are disposed approximately parallel to the body 1 of the clamp, the spring arms 21 of the frame 19 moving from one set of seats 16 to the other.
Owing to the fact that the filler 20 is in 'the form of a netting, the rays proceeding from the lamps of approaching vehicles are broken up and dispersed, and will not blind or confuse a person looking through the y foraminous or netting filler 20.
