-Be it knownthat I, SIGMUND DEICHES, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Chicago, Cook County, andState of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Neckties, of which the following is declared to be a full, clear, and exact description. v

This invention relates to neckties, and

more particularly to the ready made bow type of neckties. The object of this invention is to provide a light, flexible shape holder for the tie, which will retain it in shape, but which may be readily bent with the fingers to alter the position of thel bows or wings of the tie to suit the taste of the wearer.

To'suchends this invention consists in the' several novel features hereinafter fully set forth and claimed.

Theinvention is clearly illustrated in the v accompanying drawing, 1n which:

Referring now to said drawmg, Wh1ch`1llustrates one embodiment of the invention,

the referencev character 10 designates the bow portion of a bow necktie, and 11 the elastic band which is secured to its rear side and contains the usual fastening means 12 for securing it upon the collar.

The bow portion 10 comprises a front wing portion 13, a back wing portion 14, and a band 15 which is wrapped around the middle of the wing portions 13, 14, and sewed thereto, as is customary'.

The front wing portion13 comprises a rectangular piece of necktie material 16, of

the proper size and shape to form the front wings. Placed aga-inst this piece at its middle portion, is t e shape holder A, which comprises a rectan lar envelope 17, prefcomposed o a canvas or the like in whic is contained a rectangular wire loop 20. The envelope 17 may be formed from a .strip of canvas folded upon itself and stitched together along the side and end edges by rows of stitches 18. Rows of stitches 19, parallel to the stitches 18 and spaced inwardly on the envelope, are made vtherein to form a rectangular pocket 27 having four narrow sides in which the rectangular wire loop 20 is confined. lThe wire loop and envelope are thereby secured together throughout the entire length of the wire so that when the wire is bent at any place in any direction, the envelope at that place will .also be bent in the same way', and since the Vshape holding member is contained in the front wing portion, the latter will be correspondingly bent and will be held in such bent condition until bent into some other shape. The loop 20 is made of light gauge,

pliable and easily bent wire, which, when bent into any shape, holds that shape until bent into some other shape.

In forming up the front wing portion, the top and bottom portions 21, 22 of the material 16 are folded down on the shape holder A, along the lines 28, 24, and 'sewed to the .envelope 17 as at a, in Fig. 3. The end portions 25 are then folded down upon the y rest, along the lines 26. The back piece 14, whichis of the same size and shape as the front piece 13, is then folded up in the same manner.

are placed together, with the folded edges placed back to back and the loop portlon 15 is wrapped tightly around them at the middle, and sewed thereto at the back. The elastic band 11 is attached at the back between the loop and back piece, as is well understood.

Normally, the two front bows or wings will be held in a flat condition, but if thev wearer wishes to have the bows or wings stand at an angle to each other, or to as? sume any artist1c shape, he bends the front.y

Lasieee ends of the wire loop hold the outer ends of the wings or bows in their normal smooth condition, and the parts of the wire loop that are bent, in bending the bows, hold the bows in such bent condition, thereby giving a more artistic and pleasing appearance to the tie. The envelope which contains the wire loop and acts as a ller for the tie, and the wire of the loop being confined in the narrow pockets, it positively shapes the envelope to any form into which the wire is bent. The wire 4can not get out of place in the envelope, but'is confined therein along its entire length.

l, In a bow necktie, folded front and back wing pieces, a closed fabric envelope contained in the front piece and conforming to the shape thereof, a bendable, rectangular wire loop contained in said envelope and conforming to the shape thereof, and a band around the middle of said win pieces.
