This invention relates to gas stoves, burners, or the like andparticularly to attachments adapted to be detachably mounted in connection with the tops of gas stoves of different kinds and classes; and the object of the invention is toprovide an attachment of the class specified, which is designed to concentratethe flame and the heat arising from the flame of a burner or a number of burners directly to the bottom face of a pot or vessel placed over such.
burners; a further object being to provide the top face of the attachment with a number of projecting members, upon which a pot or vessel is placed, to form a slight air space between the bottom of the pot or vessel and the top face ofsaid attachment; a further object being to provide the attachment or the aperture or apertures thereof which register with the burner or burners of a gas stove With members which are adjustable inwardly and radially of said apertures to form supports for smaller pots or vessels; a still further object being to provide a plurality of resilient members by means of which the attachment may be firmly held in position in connection with the top of a gas stove, and by means of which the shifting of said attachment on the stove is obviated; and with these and other object in view, the invention consists in an attachment of the class and for the purpose specified, which is preferably stamped from sheet metal, and which is simple in construction, etficient in use and constructed as hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompaying drawing forms a part, in which the separate parts of my improvement are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which Fig. 1 is a plan view of one form of my improved attachment indicating the different methods of its use. In Fig. 2 of the drawing, I have indicated in dotted lines a section of a two-burner gas stove 5, the burners being indicated at 6 and 7 and at 8 is indicated the rim portion of the framework of the stove and 9 repre-' sents the usual rib-work at the top of the separate burners 6 and 7 of the. stove upon which it is usually the custom to place cookmg pots,vessels or the like, and at 10 I have shown one form of my improved gas stove attachment.
My improved attachment 10 as shown in the accompanying drawingis oblong and rectangular in form and is preferably stamped from sheet metal and comprises a top plate 11 having downwardly directed side and end walls 12, a central partition wall 13 and centrally ofthe opposite end portions of the top 11 are formed two apertures 1st and 15 having downwardly and outwardly flaring walls 16 as clearly shown.

upon which cooking pots or vessels are adapted to be placed, and it will be under stood that the apertures 14 and 15 are adapted to register with the burners 6 and 7 of the gas stove 5, and the walls 16 of said apertures are adapted to direct the flame and heat arising from said burners to the bottom of pots or vessels placed over the apertures 14 and 15. The flanges 12 of the attachment lOare provided with downwardly directed meme bers 18 which form legs, which are adapted to rest upon the top of the gas stove 5, and mounted in connection with the sides and ends of the attachment are springs 19, having hook-shaped free ends 20, which are adapted to engage the rim portions Set the stove 5 for securely holding the attachment 10 in position on the stove and for preventing the shiftin thereof. I also provide the walls 16 of the apertures 14; and 15 with spaced slots 21 arranged adjacent to the top 11 of the attachment and mounted in and movable in said slots, are a corresponding number of supporting members 22, the inner ends of which are .provided with downwardly directed and outwardly flared faces 23 to correspond with the flareof the walls 16, and headed pins or rivets 24 are mounted in connection with the outer ends of said members and extend up-. wardly through elongated apertures 25 in the top 11 of the attachment as clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 3 and by means of which the members 22 may be ad justed inwardly and outwardly and radially of the apertures 14L and 15. The members 22 are designed to be used for supporting small'cooking pots, vessels or the like over the burners 6 and 7 of the gas stove but when notin usethe members 22 assume the position shown at the left ofFig. 1 of'the drawing, and said members do not interfere in any way with the operation of the attachment in connection with large or normal size cooking pots or vessels.
It is a'wel'l' known fact that with gas stoves as commonly employed the greater portion of the heat rising from the burner or burners of a gas stove is lost by radiation therefrom,
and by'us'in my improved attachment, the heat rising 7 gas stove may be directed to and concentrated tothe cooking pot or vessel to be heated, whereby the desired result is" accomplished in the mosteflicient and economical manner, it'being understood that a material saving in the consumption of fuel is thereby effected, and while I have shown certain details of construction for carrying, my invention into effect, it will be apparent that I amnot necessarily limited Letters Patent, is:-

An attachment of the class described iiom the burner or burners of a mounted in connection with said attachment and movable inwardly and radially of said aperture, the inner ends of said supporting members being provided with downwardly and outwardly flared walls, and resilient devices for detachably mounting said attachment in connection with a suitable support.

An attachment of the class described provided with an aperture having a downwardly and an outwardly flared wall, a plurality of supporting members adjustably mounted in connection with said attachment and movable inwardly and radially of said aperture, the inner ends of said supporting members being provided with downwardly and outwardly flared walls, and the top face of said attachment being provided about the periphery of said aperture with upwardly projecting members. An attachment'for gas stoves, said attachment being fashioned from sheet metal and provided with an. aperture adapted to register with a burner of said gas stove, said attachment being provided around the aperture therein with a downwardly and outwardly flared wall, whereby the heat arisingv from said burner will be directed through said aperture, the topface of said attachment being provided about the periphery of said aperture with upwardly pro jecting members, and supporting members adjustably mounted in connection with said attachment and movable radially or" the aperture of said attachment. 7

An attachment for gas stoves, said attachment being fashioned from sheet metal and provided with an aperture adapted to register with a burner of said gas-stove, said attachment being provided around the aperture therein with a downwardly and outwardly flared wall, whereby the heat arising from said burner will be directed through said aperture, the top face of said attachment being. provided about the periphery of said aperture with upwardly projecting members, supporting members adjustably mounted in' connection with said attachment and movable radially of the aperture of said attachment,and the inner ends of said members being provided with downwardly and outwardly flared walls. An attachment for gas stoves, said attachment being fashioned from 'sheet metal' and provided with an aperture adapted to register with a burner of said gas stove, said attachment being provided around the aperture therein with a downwardly and outwardly flared wall, whereby the heat arising from said burner will be directed through said aperture, the top face of said attachment being provided about the periphery of said aperture with upwardly projecting.

An attachment for gas stoves of the class described, said attachment being fashioned from sheet metal and provided with a plurality of spaced apertures adapted to register with a corresponding number of burners of a gas stove, said attachment being provided around the apertures therein with downwardly and outwardly flared walls,
whereby the heat arising from the separate burners will be directed through said apertures, and the top face of said attachment being provided around said apertures with spaced projecting members.

An attachment for gas stoves of the class described, said attachment being fashioned from sheet metal and comprising a top plate having downwardly directed side and end walls and a central partition wall, the top plate being provided with a plurality of spaced apertures adapted to register with the separate burners of a gas stove, said attachment being provided around the apertures therein with downwardly and out wardly flared walls, whereby the heat arising from said burners is directed through the apertures of said attachment.

An attachment for gas stoves of the class described, said attachment being fashioned from sheet metal and comprising a top plate having downwardly directed side and end walls and a central partition wall, the top plate being provided with a plurality of spaced apertures adapted to register with the separate burners of a gas stove, and the top plate being provided around the apertures therein with downwardly directed and outwardly flared walls, whereby the heat arising from said burners is directed through the apertures of said attachment, and supporting members adjustably mounted in connection with the top plate and adapted to extend into the apertures therein.

An attachment for gas stoves of the class described, said attachment being fashioned from sheet metal and comprising a. top plate having downwardly directed side and end Walls and a central partition wall, the top plate being provided with a plurality of spaced apertures adapted to register with the separate burners of a gas stove, the top plate being provided around the apertures therein with downwardly directed and outwardly flared walls, whereby the heat arising from i said burners is directed through the apertures of said attachment, supporting members adjustably mountedin connection with the top plate and adapted to extend into the apertures therein, and the inner ends of said members being provided witlh downwardly and outwardly flared wa ls.

An attachment for gas stoves of the class described, said attachment being fashioned from sheet metal and comprising a top plate having downwardly directed side and end walls and a central partition wall, the top plate being provided with a plurality of spaced apertures adapted to register with the separate burners of a gas stove, the
top plate being provided around the apertures therein with downwardly directed and outwardly flared walls, whereby the heat arising from said burners is directed through the apertures of said attachment, supporting members adjustably mounted in connection with the top plate and adapted to extend into the apertures therein, and the inner ends of said members being provided with downwardly and outwardly flared walls, and resilient members for detachably supporting said attachment in connection with a gas stove.
14:. An attachment for gas stoves, saidattachment being fashioned from sheet metal and provided with an aperture adapted to register with a burner of said gas stove, and supportingmembers adjustably mounted in connection with said attachment and movable radially of the aperture therein.

An attachment for gas stoves, said attachment being fashioned from sheet metal and provided with an aperture adapted to register with a burner of said gas stove, supporting members adjustably mounted in connection with said attachment and movable radially of the aperture therein, and means for detachably supporting said attachment in connection with the gas stove.
16. An attachment for gas stoves of the class described, said attachment being fashioned from sheet metal and comprising a plate having downwardly directed side and end walls, the top plate being provided with a plurality of spaced apertures adapted to register with the separate burners of a gas stove, and supporting members adjustably mounted in connection with the top plate and movable radially of the apertures therein.
