Description

UNTTnn STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CLARK BROWNELL, OF TROY, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO VALTER M. CONGER, OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY.
IMPROVEMENT IN STOVE-PLATFORMS.
rlpectcation forming part ofLetters PatentrNo. 148,029, dated March 3, 1874; application filed June 13,1872.
To all whom it may concern.:
Be it known that I, CLARK BRowNELL,of Troy, in the lcounty of Rensselaer and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stove Boards or Platforms for Stoves; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exa-ct description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification.
I so construct a stove board or platform that a chamber is formed therein, which, being filled with nonconducting material, will prevent heat from the stove bottom ilues affecting oilcloth, carpet, or the floor beneath.
The figure represents a vertical section through the platform.
a represents the top plate of my platform, havin g a rim or lan ge, b, extending out to rest 0.1 the floor. This part I) may be cast separate, if desired. Bcneatl this plate a, I have another plate, c, attached to plate a, a space being left between the two plates, and a space being left underneath the lower plate c, between it and the floor, so that all that rests on the oor, oil-cloth, or carpet is the rim or lian ge b, which is constructed for the purpose.
A chamber is thus formed between the plates a and o, which is filled with any non-conducting material, such as cork, plaster, asbestus, or a combination of any or all of these with any other non conducting material for the same purpose. This filled chamber is marked fin the drawing.
I do not claim in this application a stovesupport having a raised center and a rim, upon which the stove-legs are to rest, as this forms the subject of another application; but
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A stove support consisting ot' a flange, b, adapted to receive the legs of a stove, and a raised center in two separate plates, a and c, with non-conducting material between and an air-space below, as specified.
vIn testimony that I claim the foregoing, I have hereunto set my hand this 5th day of- June, 1873.
