Application filed June 11, 1923. Serial No. @$4,695. i
To r/ZZ ywhom 11' may concern.'
Be it known that l, llenar L. Kasimir, a citizen of the United States, residing at liundys Lane, in the county ol Erie and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Burglar Alarnisgand lf do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to nnalre and use the saine, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, forining part of this specilication.
This invention relates to alarms and has for its object the provision of mechanism adapted to sound an alarm when a guard' wire tampered with, either by a. person colliding therewith or breaking it.
The object of this invention is. to provide a pichet. alarm in which a picket wire circlnnscribes the area to be protected., which will cause the trigger mechanism to operate when a person collides with the wire, or when the wire is cut orbrohen, the alarm 'being sounded in. either case.
The features of my invention are hereinafter fully explained and pointed out and are illustrated in the accon'ipanying drawings in which:
Figure l is a vertical central section showing the mechanism set in position Jortripping.
Figure 2 is a plan View of the same with a portion of the guard wire broken away.
Figure 3 is a longitudinal section of a cartridge holder removed from the device.
In these drawings indicates a hase plate upon which is secured a tube ll by ineens olf straps A', said tube having longitudinal slot out therein from each end toward the intermediate portion thereof.
ln the intermediate portion of the tube A is a transverse post C upon which is placed a lever D which is urovided with arms and ci. In the arm d is placed a stud post (Z2 and on the under side of the arm dr is secured a transverse block d3 the inner edge of which is a segment of a circle having the axis of the post C for its center.
Nithin the tube E are placed sliding bolts E and E' the bolt E being provided with a stud post e with which the stud post d enn gages as shown ,in Fig. l. The bolt E is also provided with a stud post e uponx which a roller c2 is mounted and adapted to engage the curved edge of the block da of: the lever l) as( shown in Fig. l.
Upon the front ends ot' the bolts E and E is provided heads c3 which are firmly cured thereon and having a sliding titin the tzibe B. Upon the bolts E and E are placed rings l through which the bolts E and E will slide freely. The rings l? fitting in the tube B snugly and are' secured in their desired position therein by means of screws Between the heads c3 on the bolts E and E and the rings F are placed springs G which are con'ipressed when the bolts are drawn inwardly and are held by the stud posts d2 and block cl3 on the lever l). Il indicates stud posts secured in the heads e3 which project through the longitudinal slots .in the tube B and are for the purpose of forcing the bolts E and E backward When setting the mechanism as hereinafter described.
ln each end the tube li I place a carlridge holder J which holders are interchangeable andare provided with stud'posts il which project through the longitudinal slot and enter the transverse slots J2 out in the wall oiQ the tube B. In the cartridge l-older l place blank cartridges l( see Fig. 3. L indicates a spring attached to the lever il) and to a post L on the base plate Aand M indicates a tripping wire secured to the lever D and extending therefrom to an anchor M secured at such distant point as may be desired. The spring L being arranged to maintain the wire lll taut when the lever D is at right angles to the tube B as shown in Fig. 2.
ln operation the cartridge holders J are removed from the tube B. The boltl E vis then pressed inward until the roller e2 will pass behind the block (is and the lever D is moved sufficiently to cause the block (Z3 to swing in front of said roller. The bolt E is then pressed inward and the lever D manipulated until the stud post d2 swings in front of the post e on said bolt,`therehy holding the bolt E in the position shown in Fig. 1, the block ci permitting considerable movement ol the lever D without releasing the bolt E. Previousto setting this device the wire M must lie/adjusted so that the lever D will be maintained in the position thereof shown in Fig. 2. The resiliency of the spring L' permittin 4the lever B to be swungtoward the Wire during the setting of the bolts o hereinafter described.
Cartridges K are then placed in the cartridge holder J and the holders are then insertedv in the ends of the tube B and the posts J swung over into the transverse slots 2. Should the Wire M be pressed against .release the bolt/E which will explode the cartridge K in the opposite end of the tube B; Should the .wire M be broken the spring L will cause the lever D to swing in the opposite direction 'with a like result. ln'either case the cartridges K will be exploded in succession so that a positive alarm will be sounded. l.
Having thus fully described my invention so that others may utilize the same, what l Lafraise claim as new and desire to secure bylLetteiTs Patent is:
L In a device of the' class described, a
tube, having@ longitudinal Slot in the Wallv operate said trigger lever to release said spring pressed bolt.
2. ln a device of the class described, a tube, means to support a cartridge in each end of said tube, a pair of spring pressed bolts adaptedl to operate independently against each of said cartridges, a trigger lever, meansthereon adapted to engage each of said bolts and retain them inset position, a spring adapted to operate said trigger lever in one direction, and a trip wire adapted to retain said lever i1. set position against said spring and tooperate the same in the opposite` direction.
- In testimony whereof-1 aliix my signature.
