CARL TOIBER, OF BERLIN-KARLSHORST, GERMANY.
BOBBIN-WINDIN G MACHINE.
Application filed July 1,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that-I, CARL TOBER, a subject of the German Republic, residing at Berlin-Karlshorst, in Germany, have in- 5 vented certain new and useful Improvements in a Bobbin-finding l\Iacl1ine,-of.
which the following is a specification.
y invention relates to bobbin-winding machines in which the traversing means con-. sist in spiders rotating in opposite direction and alternately engaging the thread for guiding it from one end of the bobbin-to the other- Iii the bobbin-windingmachineaccording to the present invention, the spindle carrying the bobbin is positively rotated and has a definite constant or substantially constant rate of speed relative to the rotation of the said spiders. Moreover,
the guiding face of the thread-guide provided between the said spiders and the bobbin is adjustable.
On the drawing herewith, on which 1 have shown'my invention by way of illustration, Fig. 1 is a side elevation of the new bobbin-winding machine; Fig. 2 is a top view with the upper portion removed and a portion being broken away; Fig. 3 is a full top view; Fig. 4 is a, front-view, while Fig. 5 is a diagrammatic view of a detail.
1) drives a pulley 20 secured to the spindle 12 which carries the bobbin 11 and is journailed in the bearing-sleeve 38. On the spindle 12 is also mounted a worm 25, which isin mesh with a worm-gear 26 and carried by an oscillating arm 17 The latter is adapted to swing about the pivot pin 15 and also carries the thread-guide 10.
The latter is adjustable relative to the spindle 12 of the bobbin 11, and where bobbins are used having a rim. the arm 17 is so adjusted that the thread-guide 10 is at a small distance from the rim of the bobbin.
As shown in Fig. 5, the thread-guide 10 can also lie adjusted so as to be held at a definite distance a from the circumference of the bobbin, i. e. at a distance which remains uniform while the bobbin is filled. To this end, there is provided opposite the thread-guide 10 a roll 37 bearing against the circumference of the bobbin. As the cir- 'cumfcrence increases, the arm 17 carrying A belt 1 operated by the pulley 4 (F ig.

pin 15 by means of the lever 21 and link 22 so as to move the thread guide 10 a corresponding amount away from the bobbin, so that the distance w remains the same.
011 the shaft of the worm-gear 26 is mounted also a pulley 28 (Figs. 1 and 2), from which passes a belt 23 over a pulley 29 (Fig. 4). The shaft of the latter carries a toothed gear 30 which is in mesh with a similar gear 6 (Fig. 3) which is carried on the end of the shaft 2 carrying the spider 3.
The shaft carrying the pulley 29 and toothed gear 30 is carried in the end of an arm 24 pivotally arranged on shaft 2 and from the other end of the arm 24 is suspended a weight 32 (Fig. 1) so that the belt 23 connecting the pulleys 28 and 29 is always kept under tension.
For holding the thread-guide 10 against the bobbin, a weight 39 (Figs. 2 and 4:) is provided, from which a cord 40. passes over a sheave 41 journalled in a-bracket 42. The cord 40 by means of a lever 43 and a link 4:4 so controls the oscillating movement of the arm 17, that the thread-guide 10 is held against the bobbin 11, the arrangement being such that as the circumference of the bobbin increases, the pull of the weight 39 on the arm 17 correspondingly decreases.
The journal supports 9 and 14 for the spiders 3 and 5 are secured to the oscillating arm 17 and can be arranged on a common base-plate capable of adjustment on the armv 1 17. The spider 5 is rotated opposite to the direction of rotation of the spider 3,-by a suitable gearing indicated at 4:5 in Fig. 1.
The pulleys 28 and 29 or the toothed gears 30 and 6 are exchangeable to provide for a change in speed of rotation, and the sitely rotating traversing members alternately engaging the thread. 1
2. In a bobbin-winding machine, the combinatlon of a rotary spindle adapted to 'IQO carry the bobbin, means for positively (lriv adjusting the position of the said threading the said spindle, oppositely rotating guide relative to the said bobbin and the traversing members, an oscillating arm carsaid traversing members. 10 ryin sald traversing members, a thread- In testimony whereof I have affixed my gui e supported on the said arm, and means signature.
controlled by the circumference of the said bobbin for operating the said arm thereby CARL TOBER.
