a citizen of the United States of America,
residing'at lLake-Vlr'njtl'n in the county of Palm Beach and State of Florida, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Butter Churns, of which the following is afspecification.V
This invention relatesto `new and `useful improvements in .butter churns.'
An important object ofthe invention .is to provide a churn that may vbe readily disassembled to allow for yproperly 'cleaning the same.
A Vfurther object ofthe invention is ,to provide a churn lof the tabove ,mentioned character that isges'pfecially adapted for although not Ilimited Y .to .such adaptation.
`A further object `of :the invention lis to v:provide a kchurn that willperform the work -required thereof bymerely supplying a rocking movement to the'device.
Other objects and advantages of `the vvent-ion will ybe apparent during the course lof the following description.
In-the accompanying drawings forming a part of thistspecification and in which like numerals kare employed to` designate like parts throughout the same, p

there is shown a modied form of a churn that comprises a wooden receptacle 24 which is provided with leg members 25 having rockers 26 secured to their lower ends. This receptacle is further provided with handle bars 27 that are secured to opposite ends and afford means for rocking theA device. Associated with one end wall ot the receptacle 24 is a drain faucet 28 that is provided for draining the liquor from the said receptacle. A transverse bar 29 is secured to the top edges of the receptacle 24 and is positioned substantially centrally of the same. Cover plates 3() are pivotallyconnected to this transverse bar 29 by means of hinges 3l, the said Lcover plates being provided Vwith bolt members 32 that are adapted Thereis further provided apertures 33 that are formed in the cover plate 30 for pro-` viding vents to allow the escape of gas from the receptacle 24. l
This receptacle is dividedk into three compartments by tlie'spaced partitions 34 that are removably retained in their proper positions by means of the guide strips 35 which are carried by the side walls ot the said re- The partitions 34 are provided with apertures 36L which afford means for communication between the several com- Vpartments formed in the receptacle 24.
`of vthe chair by a person sitting therein will cause the milk or cream to be agitated by passing through the openings 18 formed in the partitions 16 which will quickly convert the said substance into butter. The operation of the device shown in Figs. 4 and 5 is very similar to, the form of the invention just described with the exception ofV the actuating means for the churn, this means consisting of a person rocking the churn upon the rockers 26 by grasping the handle bars 27.
Tt is to be understood that the' forms of this invention herewith shown and described are to be taken as preferred eX- amples of the same, and that Vvarious changes in the'shape, size, and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing -from. the spirit oit invention or the scope'of the subjoined claims. c
Having thus described the invention, I claim l. In a. device of the character described, a receptacle, rivets secured to the side walls of said receptacle having heads positioned within the latter, removable partitions guided by said rivet heads for dividing the receptacle into compartments, restricted communication formed between said compartments, and means for supporting said receptacle.
In a device of the character described, a receptacle, rivets secured to the side walls of said receptacle having heads positioned within the latter, removable partitions guided by said rivet heads for dividing the receptacle into compartments, ,restricted communication formed between said compartments, and means for securing said receptacle to the rocker of the chair whereby the same willv be elevated from the loor.
3. In a device of the character described, a receptacle, rivets secured tov the side walls of said receptacle having heads) positioned within the latter, removable partitions ior said receptacle, channelways formed on the edges ofsaid partitions for slidably en gaging said rivet heads, communication formed between said compartments, and means for supporting said receptacle.
4. in a device of the character described, a receptacle, supporting brackets secured to one side wall of said receptacle by rivets having heads positioned rwithin the receptacle, rivets having heads positioned within the receptacle in transverse alinement with the bracket supporting rivet heads, removable partitionsfor said receptacle, channelways formed on the edges or said partitions for slidably engagingtherivet heads positioned within theV receptacle, restricted communication provided between said compartments, and means associated with said bracket members for securing the device to the rocker of a chair.
5. In a device of the character described, a receptacle, means removably positioned in said receptacle for'creating a churning effeet upon substance placed therein when the receptacle is properly agita-ted, brackets i''or securing said receptacle upon an agitating support, and means associated with the walls of said receptacle for retaining both the brackets and removable means in` their respective positions.
6. ln a ydevice of the character described, a receptacle, partitions removably positioned in said receptacle ior forming compartments therein, said partitions each comprising a pair of plates secured together on parallel planes, the vertical edges of said plates being bent outwardly from their respective n planes to form guideways, said plates having alined apertures 'for affording restricted communication between said compartments,
andvmeans associated with the walls of said receptacle for engaging said guideways.
