following is a specification.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in collapsible chairs, and has for its primary object thereof the provision of a novel form of folding chair wherein the chair back and legs are folded in directions toward each other to occupy positions adjacent thev seat whereby the chair assumes a folded compact form enabling the same to be stored in a relatively smaller space as would not be the case of a chair of a rigid construction.

l.fl-ith the above and other objects in View as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described in connection with the accompanying drawings, and in which like reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views.

In a chair of the type described, a seat bottom, front legs hinged to the seat bottom, a chair back hinged to the seat bottom, depending extensions carried by the seat back, a cross rod jonrnaled to the lower ends of said extensions, a subframe journaled on said cross krod and pivoted to the front legs' below their pivot points on the seat, the subframe having elongated guide slots formed in its side, rear legs journaled on said cross rod, links associated Withthe seat pivots or the front legs, links pivoted to the' rear legs below their pivot points, pivot pins connecting the free ends of said links and slidably engaging said elongated slots, and arms pivoted to said cross rod having notches formed adjacent their outer ends 5 that are adapted to engage said pivot pins for preventing the collapsing of the chair when. in a set up position.
