Be it known that we, JOHN D. S ANDEFER and AMES H. STIDI-IAM, citizens of the United States, residing at'Dooley, in the county of Wise and State of Virginia, have invented 'certain'new'and useful Improvements in a Washing Machine; of which the following is a specification. i Y

The present invention relates to a wash-* mg machine and has for its principal-0b.

Ject to provide a simple and efiicient device which may be manufactured at a comparatively low cost and which will be reliable in operation and well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed;

Another important object of f the invention is to provide an agitating mechanism which will move the clothes in the water so as to cleanse the dirt therefrom without tending to tear or otherwise injurethem. v

Another object of the invention is to provide a two-compartment receptacle one of 'which takes the place of a boiler andthe tain novel features of construction, and the combination and arrangement of parts as will be, hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
