Be it known that I, EUGENE A. KUEN, a
citizen of the United States, residing in Cin` cinnati, in the county of HamiltonV and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Electric Connecters, of which the following is a specification."
My invention relates to electric connecters having two terminal posts, It is ythe object of my invention to provide novel means whereby to maintain the lateral relations between the posts, and between the posts and the tube, to prevent short-circuiting between them; and, further, to provide novel means whereby ready assembling of the parts is obtained; and the invention will be further readily understood from the following d'escription and claim, and from the drawings, I

My improved device is especially applicable in connection with connecters used for electric lamps employing electric lamp bulbs having two end-terminals, and used as headlights, spot-lights, and the like, for automobiles and other vehicles. Such a bulb is exemplified at l1, having the end- terminals 12, 13, which connect with the filament of the lamp.
The connecter comprises a tube 15, which is adapted to be received and positioned Vin usual manner in a usual cylindrical flange at the rear end of the reiiector of the lamp. The plug 16 of the electric light bulb isreceived in the end of the tube, and has suitable mechanical connection therewith, instanced as a pin and bayonet connection slot 17.
An insulating block or Washer 2l, shown as a comparatively thin washer, for instance of insulating fibre, lis fixed in the tube, in suitable manner, as by means of indenting the body Vof the tube withy inwardly extending prongs 22, against which one end of the washer is received, and prongs 23 bent against the other end of the washer, for po-y sitioning the washer endwise-in theV tube. My invention'is especially useful when einployingthin libre washers which, inprac' tice, are comparatively inexpensive, and aid in maintaining 'the terminal posts in proper relation to the washer, vto each other, and to y the tube. i
Terminal posts 25, 26, are received through the washer. Each of thev posts'comprise a ksleeve 27, which is provided with an' annular shoulder 28 and a peripheral seat 29, which y latter is preferably of greater diameter than thediameter of the outer end l30 of the sleeve.
A plunger 33 is located in the sleeve and protween the bottom end of the bore 32 in the sleeve and the plunger. Y The plunger is provided with an inner annular shoulder 34, arranged to contact an annular flange 3 5 at the outer end of the bore, forming a'stopjfor lthe outward movement of the plunger, this stop being formed by spinning or upsetting the outeredge of t-he wall of the ybore after the plunger has been placed in the bore.
The insulatingl washer is provided with holes', 39, into which the endsof the: terminal posts are received, the posts :being forced into these holes so that the peripheral seats 29 make firm Contact with the walls of the holes, with the shoulders 28 bearing against one end of the washer. c
The outer end of each ofthe sleeves is provided with` a transverse hole 4l. An electric conductor`42 is provided with -an insulating covering 43.
