ALARM SYSTEM.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, \VILLIAM C. BOB, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York. in the county of New York, State of 5 New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Alarm Systems, of which the following is a full, clear, concise, and exact description.

This invention relates to alarm systems,

1 and particularly to such systems provided with indicating chara ters or signs.

' It is an object of the invention to provide a burglar alarm system, including as an element therein a precautionary sign.

To this end, the invention embraces a construction wherein a .foil stripping constituting a part of the burglar alarm system K is applied to a window pane in the form of an ornamental design or border in such a $0 manner as to include a precautionary sign .in a conspicuous part of the alarm circuit.

Other-objects and features of the invention will appear from a consideration of the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the appended claims. a

Referring to the drawing, 1 is a'plate of glass havin on its inner side a narrow border 2 o metallic foil. As is common practice in alarm systems of this type, a'pair of conducting wires, not shown in the drawing. are disposed in contact with the termi nals of the border 2 for making the necestM) sary connections with any ordinary alarm apparatus. The border is thus one continuous conductor and the passage of an electric current therethrough is interrupted by the breaking or cutting of the glass, thereby t causing the alarm to sound. While the conductor has been shown as a border running along the margin of the glass, it may also take the form of an ornamental sign or any other suitable display. may be applied as a paint, powder, or in fact, any suitable form of conducting material. Between the conducting border and the surface of the glass is a sign 3. bearing the caption John Doe electric protection.

he invention is not limited to any specific form of sign or to any particular form of lettering. The characters may be applied in the form of an opaque paint or may be formed of a luminous or radio-active substance more readily discernible. in the dark. In the latter case, the luminous material may be painted over the individual characters or may be applied. to the back of the plate with the opaque letters standing in relief thereon. The luminous material may also beapplied to a baseplate which is then covered with a stencilled outline of the desired characters. intended to limit the invention to any particular form except as defined by the scope of the appended claims.

What is claimed is:

1. In an alarm system. a transparent base. a. conducting medium applied to said base. and a sign-disposed between said base and said conducting medium and visible through said transparent base.

2. In an alarm system. a transparent base. a strip of conducting foil on said base. and a sign disposed between said base and said strip and visible through said transparent base.

3. In an alarm system. an insulating base, a strip of metallic foil mounted on said base, and a sign completely backed by said strip and visible through said transparent base.
