CAMERA-CASE ATTACHMENT.
Application filed July 8, 1922. Serial No. 573,639.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MURIEL M. MIX, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lidgerwood, in the county of Richland and State of North Dakota, have invented new and useful Improvements in Camera-Case Attachments, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my said invention is the provision of a camera case attachment in the form of a holder and carrier for a roll of extra films, the said attachment being so arranged relative to the camera case as to be entirely out of the way while the case is being carried as well as when the camera is being used, and being so constructed that access may be readily gained to the extra roll of films when desired.
To the attainment of the foregoing, the invention consists in the improvement as hereinafter described and definitely claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification Figure 1 is a side elevation showing a portion of a camera case equipped with my novel attachment.
Figure 2 is an elevation of one end of the same.
Figure 3 is an elevation of the opposite end of the equipped case.
Figure 4 is a longitudinal vertical section showing the attachment as connected to the camera case.
Similar numerals of reference designate corresponding parts in all of the views of the drawings.
In general the camera case 1 may be and preferably is of the ordinary well known construction. though it is shown as provided in its bottom wall 2 with apertures 3.
My novel attachment preferably comprises a body 4, a closure cap 5. and a strap 6 that serves the twofold function of connecting the attachment to the camera case 1 and securing the closure cap 5 against casual displacement. The body 4 and the cap 5 are preferably formed of comparatively thick leather so as to lend stiffness and strength to the attachment, and the body 4 which is preferably cylindrical is closed at one end and open at its opposite end. The end wall 7 of the body 4 is apertured at 8 for the passage of the strap 6, and it will also be noted that the closure cap 6 is apertured at 9 for the passage of the strap. The ends of the strap 6 are designed to be connected at" a point below the body 4 through the medium of an appropriate buckle 10 which per se. is not of my invention. The end portion of the strap 6 which carries the buckle 10 is connected at 11 to the body 4 through the medium of a loop as illustrated.
The strap 6 extends through the aperture 3 in the bottom wall of the casing 1 and serves as best shown in Figure 4: to permanently connect the attachment in pendent relation to the case 1. Notwithstanding the permanent connection of the attachment to the case 1 it will be readily understood that the closure cap 6 may be unfastened and removed from the body 4 for the insertion or removal of a roll of films from the body 4, after which the cap 6 may be expeditiously and easily replaced on the body 4 and detachably secured in such position.
It will be manifest from the foregoing that my novel attachment is so arranged with respect to the case 1 that the case 1 equipped with the attachment can be carried and used with the same facility as an ordinary camera case, and that the attachment when properly made is calculated to enhance rather than detract from the finished appearance of the camera case.
I have entered. into a detailed description of the construction and relative arrangement of the parts embraced in the present and preferred embodiment of my invention in order to impart a full, clear and exact understanding of the said embodiment. I do not desire, however, to be understood as confining myself to the said specific construc tion and relative arrangement of parts inasmuch as in the future practice of the invention various changes and modifications may be made such as fall within the scope of my invention as defined in my appended claims.
Having described my invention, what I plaim and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, 1s:--
1. A camera case with apertures in its bottom wall, in combination with an attachment, said attachment comprising a body open at one end and closed at its opposite end and having apertures in its closed end, a closure cap removably arranged on the body and having apertures, and a strap passed through the apertures in the bottom wall of the case and laced through the apertures in the end wall of the attachment body and in the closure cap and provided at one and means connected to the body and engaged with the cap to serve the twofold function of Connecting the attachment to a camera case and securing the closure in 10 closed position, the said means being in the form of a strap with a buckle at one end, and being connected through the case near the buckle end and being laced through the end Wall of the body and also through the 15 closure cap.
In testimonywhereof I aflix my signature.
MURIEL M. MIX.
