IMPROVEMENT IN LOOM-TEMPLES. l
Speciiiation forming part of Letters Patent To all whom fait may concern:
Be it known that we, WARREN W. DUTUHER and EDWARD S. STIMPsoN, of Hopedale, of the county of Y'Vorcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Loom-Temples; and we do hereby declare the same to betully described in the following specification, and represen ted in the accompanying drawings, of which- Figure 1 is a top view; Fig. 2, a side elevation; Fig. S, a bottom view, and Figs. 4, 5, and 6 transverse sections ot' one of our iinproved roller-temples. Fig. 7 is a top view of the base-plate, and Fig. 8 is a side view ofthe stirrup-clamp for holding in connection such base-plate and the shank-case ot' the temple; and Fig. 9 is a longitudinal section ot' part ot' the shank and its case.
Our invention has reference to the shankcase and the supporting devices therefor. The nature of our invention consists ofa temple as provided with a recess, a plate, and supporting-screws, arranged with the case and the shank, as and for the purpose as hereinafter explained. Also, in a contractile stirrupclamp and its screw, arranged and combined with the base-plate and shank-case of the temple, all being substantially as hereinafter set forth.
In the drawings, A denotes the toothed temple-roller; B, its trough; C, the cap of the t-rough, and D the shank projecting from and serving to support the trough. The shankcase E we make open at bottom and with the shank-holding crosspiece F arranged so as to extend across the lower side of the shank. f The stop-shoulders a and b are shown, one as projecting from or `formed upon the shank, and the other from the case, they being arranged as represented. The operative spring G of the shank envelops it, and bears at its front end against another shoulder, o. of the shank, and at its rear end against the rear part of the case, all as shown.
The case, in this instance, is a cover going over the spring in order to protect it from dust or filamentous deposits, and is separate from No. 146,757, dated January 27, 1874 g application'filed June 9, 1873.
