may comer Be it known that l, AnrAn Pomnsnr, n citizen of Hnngery, residinget Douglas ton, inthe county of Queens and State or New Yorlnheve invented certain new and useful f'rnprove'ments in Shoe-Polishing Sets, of which the following is e. specification. v
This invention relates to a shoe polish-- ing set, and. it has for a. general object provision of e. novel and sinnplef device or epplying the olishing material to the shoe and then pofishing the Seine. A further object is to provide, in combination, it fen which may be used for drying the polishin material on the shoe or for enyotherdesire purpose. 7
For further comprehension of the invention, end of the 1 objects end advante thereof, reference will he had to the following description and vin enying drnwings, end to the eppended c aims in which the various novel features of the invention ore more pnrticnlerly set vforth.
Fig.1 is n side view of the shoe device.
Fig. 2 is e freentery eniel section 8 do here emhoti my improved shoe polishing apparatus comprises an small electric motor 10 which is mounted on one end of e suitehlo hendle ll. Within thishandle is mounted e rheostet switch of suitable constrnction for controlling the current to the motor the handle of this switch being shown e current to the; motor comes. through snitehle wires 13 which are led handle and which are provided with o, plug M of ordinary connection to n lamp socket.
The shaft 15 of the motor is adap to hove mounted on opposite ends thereof n hrushes it and 17 respectivey, the brush it being preferably compere= tively ell to iecilitote its enwiog in e hon or the hire containing a po ishing ma- These hrushes may he fixed on t shett by means ofthnmh screws 18. The hes may he made of e suitable solid core it over which is 5!- e felt racing 2dthe polishing brush 1 he also re fleec covering thereon, this covering enten polishing ing heclrwnrd over the-edges of the brush to shown, permitting the edge of the to 7 e ehed to the shoe, and time tecahtet complernentory clutch construction tor polishing under the instep The cores l9 may he fixed on hnhs 22 which receive the shott ends and through which the thumb screws 18 are threndcd, In connection with my improv shoe polishing apparatus ll provide n rotor-y fan 25 of ordinary construction which may he mounted on the motor shott behind the brush. The hub 26 of this fen slidehly surrounds the shaft 15 and is formed on one end with a clutch face adapted to engage e shaft, the engaged clutch ports heingindicarted nt 27.
The fan huh 26 'is' held in operntiveengegement with the shift 15 by e. letch'itl pivoted in n slot 31 in the shaft end hnving its inner endprojected up behind tliehuh by a spring 32. 4 v
- A wire cage is provided for the ion 25 end comprises'the axially spaced holes 34 end 35 on which are fired suitnhle wire members 36; The cage is mounted on the easing of motor by huh 10 of the motor nosing, the other hub 34 of the ion closely encircling-the sheft 15.
element on the screwing theihuh 35 on the. 1
en the fan is not in use it may he re polish is opplied hy hrnsh 16, which is dlpped into t e proper one ofthe hoxes con- .teming the pohsh, while the finish is lied by brush 1?. As will be opponent, it $0,111 25 may he removed if desired, or operete'd without the brushes In removing the fan the nail piece 30 is wardl' to free it from clutch engagement with s aft 15 and is engaged with the cage hub 34 by the fingers 38.. The cage my then he unscrewed the fen maintaining its proper axial relation, thus focilitoti mounting thereof. As indicated at 49 may rovide' a pair of bell-shaped shields which mount on the motor to revent rial om'the brushes p 1.
heat mdieting o the casing.
Having thus t 4 i my invention whet lifted to depress the latch 30. The fan huh 26 is then moved hecht rough the usual 'movehly otteched to the hub 34 by means oil ver I cl aim as new and desire protect by, Letshaft and adapted to have clutch' engage-' ment therewith, a cage for said fan having a pair of 'hub elements one of which is attached to the motor casing and the other of which freely encircles the said shaft, and
means for removably attaching said fan to said last named huh element and out of.
V clutch engagement with the said shaft.
' 2. In combination, a motor including a casing and a shaft, a fan slidable on 'said shaft andada ted to have clutch engagement therewit a cage for said fan hava pair of huh elements one of which is attached to the motor casing and the other of which freely encircles the said shaft, and
I amuse means for removably attaching said fan to I said last named hub element and out of 'clutch engagement with the said shaft, said means comprising spring fingers'on said fan adapted to engage in a peripheral'grooye in the last named huh element.
3. In combination, a motor including a casing and a shaft, a' fan'slidable on said shaft and'adapted to have clutch engagementthere'with, a cage for said fan havmgha hub element detachably mounted. on t e motorcasing, and means for removablyat taching said fan to said cage co-axially thereto, and a latch mounted in a slot in said shaft for holding said hub in clutchengage- 35 ment therewith.
In testimony whereofl have afiixed my signature.
