Be it known that I, PHILOMENE Fannie, a citizen of the United States, residing at Westwood in the county of Lassen and 'State of California, have invented new and useful illmproweme-nts in Nursing-Bottle Covers, of which the following is a specification. v

This invention relates to attachments for inursin bottles for infants and has for its object the revision of an enclosing cover or pouch esigned to be slipped upon a nursing or other bottle used by infants and to 'be frictionally engaged thereon, this cover having the two fold purpose of preventing the bottle from slipp ng easily upon the pillow of the infant Whlle feeding and also tending to prevent breakage of the bottle in case of dropping it from the crib or carriage, the cover moreover operating to retain the heat of the milk and prevent too much cooling.

An important and more specific object is the provision of a cover of this character which is in the nature of a pouch of flexible or elastic material designated to be 'frictionally engaged upon the nursing bottle and provided. at spaced intervals with two or more rings of metal or other material by means of which the bottle may be pinned to the pillow of the infant so that the infant cannot push the bottle away or so that the bottle cannot slip away during feeding.

Another ob'ect is the provision of a device of this c aracter which being of flexible material will operate to protect the bottle against breakage in case the infant throws it from the crib or perambulator as so frequently occurs, it being noted that many babies seem to delight in throwing out bottles for the purpose of hearing the crash of the breaking lass.

Still another object is the provision of a cover of this character which is provided in one side with a pocket within which may be stored extra nipples, some small article necessary to the care of the baby or else some small article treasured by the intent, the pocket not only serving as means for holding such an article but the weight of the article within such pockets operating to hold the bottle in the proper position for feeding, so that the bottle cannot turn.

Yet another. object is the provision of a pouch or cover of this character which may be attractively ornamented by means of a nursery fixture or the like whereby to interest and amuse the infant especially after the feeding operation-is completed, the presence of the picture or other ornamentation tending to deter the baby from throwlng the bottle away.

An additional object is the provision of a cover of this character which will be sanitary and easily kept clean at all times, which Wlll be easy to apply and remove, highly efiicient in use, durable in service and a general improvementin the art.

With the above and other objects and advantages in view, the invention consists in the details of construction to be hereinafter fully described and claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which,

Referring more particularly to the drawings the letter A designates a nursing bottle which may be of the hygeia or any other type, it making no difi'erence as to the application of my protective cover. In carrying out my invention ll provide a cover 10 which is in the nature of a pouch formed preferably of soft rubber and made sufliciently elastic to fit over the bottles of quite difi'erent sizes, within reasonable limits of course. This cover 10 is closed at one end and has its other end opened and preferably provided with a bead 11 which not only serves as reinforcing means but which also serves to facilitate the placing of the cover upon the bottle. might be formed merely by thickening the material of the pouch or cover or may be formed in any other suitable manner and by means of an additional strand of rubber suitably vulcanized onto the pouchor cover during the manufacture thereof. It is of course apparent that it may be highly desirable to ornament the pouch or cover 10 with some nursery scene or the like so that the device will be attractive to infants and will hold their attention so that even when feeding is completed they will preferably holdthe bottle or retain the same in their possession instead of throwing it out of the crib or perambulator.

Suitably secured to the bead 11 are rings t a pillow or upon some other portion of a bed or within a perambulator, crib, carriage or the like whereby to prevent the bottle from being moved from the proper feeding position. It is of course apparent N that a safety pin may be easily IIISBItEd through anyone or more of the rings so as to hold the bottle firmly in position and prevent slipping from the pillow and also to prevent the infant from actually forcing 1 the bottle away.

In some cases it may be preferable to provide a storage pocket 13* upon one side of the cover 10.as clearly disclosed in Fig ure 3, this pocket having a flap 14 held at shut by means-of sna fasteners'15 of ordinary construction. 'l '5 pocket may also be ornamented by any suitable means and it will serve very efiiciently as a storage compartment for-extra nipples, for some small at articlesneeded by the mother during the care of the baby or may be used to take care of some smalltreasure of the infant so that the same will not become lost or misplaced.

' Furthermore, the placing of any small article within the pocket 13 serves to pro- ,vide a weight which will operate to hold (the bottle in the proper desired position and prevent it from turning over, in this way it being obvious that the proper nursingposition may be maintained at alltimes.

rom the foregoing description and a mudy of the drawings it will be readily apparent that I have thus provided a very simple and consequently inexpensive cover to for milk bottles for feeding infants which will operate not only to hold the bottle firmly in position and prevent-it from casually slipping or from being forcibly pushed away but which will also operate to reat tain the heat of'the milk and to prevent the bottlefroin breaking in case it is thrown out. It is of course apparent that it is neeaoei nota guarantee against brew device will surely operate to cushion the force of the blow and will therefore serve to decrease the probability of breakage.

Having thus described my invention:
