The shape of the diffusers permits the casing to be low without'interfering with the easy unobstructed delivery of air, a factor of importance in installations in auditoriums equippedwith low-slung seats, and by directing the currents in opposite directions longitudinally of the row of seats, the fresh air is introduced without discomfort to the chair-occupants- By reason of the large admission and delivery areas, due to the shape of the improved diifuser, a smaller number may be employed Ito``v supplyfthe required volume of air, thus eifectingasaving 1n`air-duct construction.
In :the complete `form` of thek invention, as illustrated in the drawings, two independent dampers 14 are provided within the casing, one for each end, by which the flow ofair may be controlled. Each damper comprises a plate of sheet metal mounted upon 'a transverseshaft l near thecentreof the casing, havinga handle 1 6 on the exterior by which thelplatefmay be raised or lowered I to expose more or less 'of the open end, and the handle y is'A `arranged to engage in notches 17 on a segment l1,8 to hold the damper in the adjusted position.A
