Be it known that I, HARRY BREGMAN, a

citizen of the United States, residing at Lorain, in the county of Lorain and State of Ohio, have. invented certain new and useful Improvements in'Mop Heads, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to mop heads, and

more particularly to the means thereof for Another object of the invention is to provide mop headclamping means of said char acter, which is of simple and inexpensive made from stamped plate material and wire.

In order that the invention may be clearly understood, the same will be hereinafter fully described as illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and the novel. features thereof will be distinctly pointed out in the appended claims.

Referring to thedrawings 1 represents the handle, thelower end of which is reduced at 2 to. leave ashoulder 3, and is slightlytapered to be'driven into a socket 4 of a clamping member 5. This clamping member is formed of two complemental sides 6 and T, which are stamped from plate material and fixed together by spot welding or other suitable means. The sides 6 and 7 form an elongated cupped out recess 8 with.

opposite transverse bulged out depressions as 9, and the ends of said plates are bent in opposite direction to serve as guides 10 and 11 for a wire clamping frame 12-. Said clamping frame is constructed from a single piece of wire and. consists of sides 13 and 1 which are adapted to slide in the guides 10 and 11, and a cross bar15 having corrugations at 16 for, co-operating with the elongated cupped out recess 8 and the transverse bulged out depression9 of the clamping member 5 for gripping rags therebetween to hold them securely. The free ends of the sides 13 and 1d of the clamping frame terminate in hooks 17 and. 18, and these enter openings of the side lugs 19 and 20 of an actuating lever 21, which is pivoted at 22 to the lateral pins of a collar 23 arranged on the reduced portion 2 of the handle. A suitable coiled spring 2% isinterposed between the collar 23 and the socket 4 of the clamping member 5.

- It is readily seen that when the actuating lever 21 is lifted upwardly, the rags olthe mop will be gripped securely by means of the corrugations-1G oi the clamping frame 12 forcing the same into the transverse bulged out depressions 9 of the sides 6 and 7, and there is no danger oi the rags becoming loose or slipping sidewise in the mop head. It is to be understood that slight changes in the details of construction may be made within the scope of the claims.

I'd-raving fully described my invention, what I claim is:

1. A mop holder comprising a handle provided with a fixed clamping member, the clamping member having a channeled clamping portion, the opposed walls of said channeled portion having a plurality of opposed depressions, a movable clampingmemher having a corrugated portion adapted to co-operate with the depressions oi said chair neled portion, means supporting said movable member, and means for actuating said movable member, substantially described.
