When a half turn is reached, however, the 'roller 45 will be en` gagged by the opposite dog 41 or 42 to that with which it was previously engaged and wiil operate the dog itself to engage the roller 34, the roller 45 at this point sliding into one of. the recesses 52. The half turn of the shaft 18 is effected through the mech anisin previously described and through raising or loweringthe frames il carrying the cultivator teeth.4

The shaft 47 is also ineintained in normal position by means of a spring 74 which extends from a link 75 connected to the lever 49 to a suitable point .on the frame 15.
It may be stated that the mechanism so far described is well known in the art and is, for instance similar .to that shown on epage 25 of the catalogue of the Frost & l/Voods Company, -Limited, Smiths Falls, Ontario, 1920 edition. t- Will be seen in the mechanism already described, no means are provided for adjusting ther depth to which the cultivator teeth are lowered during' movement of the machine. A certain amount of adjustment can be made by ad justing thev tension of the spring '27 or the angular position of the brackets 25, but these adjustments can not be made during operation of the machine. lin order te provide for these. adjustments, the connecting rod 2l in place of being directly connected. to the lever 22 is 'pivotally conneotedoto a sliding cross head or connecting-member 53 mounted on the lever 22 and connected to the rod 21 by 1f rieanjs oa strap or casting 54 which is pivoted'to the cross head ov a pivot pin 55 which also extends tnrough a longitudinally extending slot 56 in the lever 22, the vouter end of the strap or casting hai,v` ing screw threaded engagement with the rod 21.
The position of' the' cross rod 53 with respect to the lever 22 is designed to be adjustedby means of a screw 56 which extends through the cross head and is journalledat its upper end in, a bearing 57 connected to the lever 22. The upper end ot the screw or spindle 56' carries a bevel gear 58 which meshes with a corresponding bevel gearl 59 on a stubshait 60 which is journalled in a bracket 61 connected to the bear- 'ing 57. The stub shaft 60 is connected by a universal joint 62 with an operating rod .or spindle G3, the forward end of which is squared'and engaged with a sleeve 64 which has a correspondingly squared central perforation 65. rlhe sleeve 64 is rotatably mounted in abearing 'on thebrachet 5l and is provided at its forward end with a hand wheel 67 havinr a. crank 68 thereon. t will be seen by these means rotary motion may be given to the rod 63 at the same time longitudinal sliding movement of the same is provided for during raising andlowering o' the cult-ivator teeth. This variation in throw of the .lever will produce a correspending variation in the depth to which the cuitivator teeth are lowered. -f
lin the alternative form oithe invention shown in Figure 9, the adjusting means are designed to be operated from a point adjacent te the drivers seat an "lF placed at the front end of the machine, as in the preced ing views. lt may be stated that in the case of a oultivator. which `is designed to be adjust the mechanism from the forward part thereof, which is adjacent to the seat of the tractor for horse drawn cultivators, it is more desirable that the adjustment should take place from the drivers seat on `the cultivator. ln Figure 9, (l indicates the drivers seat, but in this instance the screw 53a is turned by means of a crank 70 connected to the top thereof, the normal position of which is adjacent to the drivers seat. The remaining part of the mechanism is the saine as that previouslydescribed.
