To all w/lzlom t may concern Be it known that l, CARnoLL M. SHER- man7 -a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city, county, and State of New York7 have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Fortable Heaters for Hair Curlers, of which the following is a specication.

rllhis invention relates to a portable and compact casing adapted to contain la ladies hair curling' device and means for heating the saine.

rilhe object of this invention is to provide a small and compact container adapted to be carried in a hand-bag or the like, occupying but little space,' and containing a hair curler and inea-ns for heating the same rapidly whereby the hair curler can be heated and made ready for use without inconvenience or delay.

1With these objects and other objects which may hereinafter appear, in view, I have devised the particular arrangement of parts hereinafterI set forth and more particularly pointed out in the claims appended hereto. i

Referring iirst to the construction disclosed in Figures 1 to 5 inclusive. Here is shown a container 1 which is preferably made as small and compact as possible so that the same can be readily carried in a hand-bag or the like.

rllhe container 1 is provided with a suitable cover 2 which may be hinged to the container 1 or simply slid thereon, and frictionally held in place as may be desired. It willbe understood that the shape of the container may be varied in many ways to suit its contents and it may loe suitably orna inented to provide an article of desirable and pleasing appearance.

rllhe container is provided with a pocket forming -a well .f5 adapted to hold a hair curler 11 of the conventional form. The hair curler disclosed herein is of a well known type provided with a pair of distensible jaws 5 and 6 adapted to be separated by pressing together the arms 7 and 8. In order to enable the hair curler to be compactly stored within the receptacle I find it desirable to provide the arm 7 with a joint 9 whereby the portion 10 of the arm 7 may be folded down at an angle to the hair curler as disclosed in Figures 2 and 3.

.fit 11 is shown a reservoir adapted to contain alcohol or some other inflammable liquid 12. It will be understood that if desired, the reservoir 11, instead of being integrally formed as part of the container, may be a separate removable tube or the like fitted in place within the receptacle 1.

ln the embodiment of my invention dis-- closed in Figure 3 a tubular wick 12 is contained within the reservoir 11 and is adapted to be ignited as will be hereinafter set forth. The reservoir 11 is 1Kept normally closed by means of a threaded cap 14 provided with a serrated periphery as at 15 to permit ready removal of the same. it 16 is provided a well intended to receive an igniting` device 17. The igniting device comprises a stem 18. provided at separated points with a plurality of laterally projecting); arms 19 and Q0 connected by absorbent platininn` wires 21.

For convenience in permittingr the insertion and removal of the igniting device in the reservoir 117 it is provided at its upper end with a ring 22 adapted to he manually grasped. To hold the igniting device securely, l provide a pivoted clip 23 which engages the upper end of the igniting device and holds the same securely within its Well 16.

lt will be seen that to use the device the llO ignitng member 17 is removed 'from its well 16 and thrust within the reservoir 1l. This causes the saturated wick 13 to be ignited and the same throws a flame of intense heat so that the hair curler may be held over the flame and quickly heated and ready for use.

It will be obvious that the position of the wells 3 and 16 may be changed to provide a more compact form of receptacle; that the reservoir may be. separated and removed from the container and the general form or outline of the container may be changed in many ways without departing from the spirit oit my invention.

In Figures 6, 7 and S a modiiied :form of construction is disclosed wherein l provide av container 25 having a well 26 for containing the hair curler lil-,said curler being preferably in all respects similar to the hair curler disclosed in Figure The container 25 is provided with a i'uel reservoir i?? containing; the inflammable liquid l2 in which is held a wick 28, said wick protruding above the upper end o'f the reservoir 27, the protruding portion of the wick being adapted to be ignited as will `be hereinafter set forth. The upper portion of the wick is yadapted to be covered by a closure cap 29 threaded down upon the reservoir 27.

At 30 is shown an igniting member consisting ycfa piece of hardened steel or the like, which 1s adapted to be scraped or rubbed on a piece of spark-producing substance 32 secured on the upper end oit' the casing 25 adjacent to the fuel reservoir 27. To use this device the igniting member 3() is simply removed from its position and struck against the spark producing member 32 which throws a spark against the protrudinfci` wick 2S causing the saine to be ignited. The hair curler i is then held over the flame until heated and ready for use.

It will be seen from the foregoing that various modiiications of my invention may be made without departing from the spirit of my invention. the aim of which is to produce a complete, compact casing adapted to contain a hair curler and means Ytor heatinothe same'.

-laving described my invention what I claim is:

l. ein article of the class described coniprising` a casing having a well adapted to receive an iniianimable material, another well adapted to receive an igniting device ior said inflammable material, a cover 'for said casing, and athird well being adapted to receive a hair curler, the handle of which is adapted to lie parallel to the cover when said cover is closed on the casing.

2. An article of the class described comprising a casing having a plurality of pockets spaced side by side, one of said pockets adapted to receive an inflammable liquid, another pocket adapted to receive means for igniting said liquid, ond another pocket adapted to receive a hair curler, a cover for one oi said pockets and a cover for the casing.
