The i'use ig comprises a hollow cylindrical plug 1 of suitable insulatingn'mterial.y such as, tor example. porcelain. having` usual threaded terminal forming shell surrounding the l portion oit he plug. The plug 1 near its upper end is provided with a side opening 7 in which is positioned an L-shaped bracket 8. The ieu/er end of this bracket extends down between the plug 1 and the terminal forming hell 2. to which the bracket 8 may be sddered or otherwise electrically connected. 'iut laterallyY extending arm ot the bracket carries a screw 9 by means ot which one end ot the tuse may be connected thereto.
The base ot the plug 1 is provided with a rectangular opening 10 through which the fuse is inserted into the fuse plug and which cooperates with attaching means for securing the center or second terminal 11 to the .tuse plug.
The center terminal 11 and the fuse 14 iprin the renewable element Ot the fuse plug. The center terminal 11 is formed from a strip ot suitable material, such as, tor example, brass. and attached thereto are two resilient arms 12 and 13 bet-Ween the free ends oit which is secured the fuse 14.
The center terminal 11 and the attached arms 12 and 1i) may be formed from sheet the arms being integral with the ter- These arms 12 and 13 which extend nvardly trom the terminal 11 are oppostely bowed as clearly indicated in Figures 2 and 5. The upper or free ends ot the arms are grooved to receive one end ot the ruse wire la. T he tusc wire and the upper ends of the arms 12 and 13 may be soldered or otherwise rigidly connected so that the tuse wire is both rigidly and permanently fastened to these arms. The fuse may. of course, take the form of a strip or ribbon instead oi a wire.y it desired.
The laterally extending portions 12a and i3 oit the arms 12 and 13 rest against the base et the plug when the combined terminal and Yfuse is secured to the plug. These laterally extendingy portions 12l and 13` which are resilient, are spaced a short dis- Uice from the terminal 11. Thus the resiliency ot these portions 12nl and 13 in sures that positive contact is made between the terminal 11 and the cooperating terminal oi? the socket or receptacle into which the fuse plug is inserted. This positive con tact is insured even though the depth of the receptacles or sockets may vary slightly.
lV hen placing the combined renewable terminal and fuse in position in the fuse plug, the tuse is inserted through the opening 1() andthe arms 12 and 13 forced into this opening. The over-all distance between the outer surfaces ot the arms 12 and 13 is slightly greater ,than the width ot the opening l0 so that these arms are compressed when forced into the opening. These arms, therefore, frictionally engage the walls of the opening l0 and maintain. the center terminal attached to the plug. rlhe terminal ll and the fuse are, therefore, definitely attached to and kpositioned in the 'fuse plug. The upper end of ythe iuse is clamped Ato the terminal bracket S by means of the screw 9.
rlhe flat terminal ll may have stamped thereon any suitable mark or numberto indicate the normal current carrying capacity of the yfuse attached to this terminal.
It the fuse is blown the remnants of the renewable elementfmay be readily removed from the fuse plug. The terminal ll, together with the attached arms l2 and 13 and such portion ofthe fuse as may remain connected therewith may be easily and quickly removed by merely inserting the end of a i. screw driver or the blade ot' a knit'e between the 'terminal ll. and the l ase ol" the fuse, and thus forcing the arms l2 and 13 out of the opening l0. Thenatter removing the cap il the screw 9 may beloosened to remove `from the bracket any portion oit the old fuse which may remain connected therewith. A new combined renewable terminal and 'fuse may then be inserted in the fuse plug and the upper end of the fuse wire fastened to the terminal bracket 8 as before described. After the cap -l and the window G have been `replaced the t'use plug is ready to be connected in circuit again.
The invention contained herein is ot course susceptible-of other embodiments and adaptations.
lVhat is claimed is:
l. A fuse plug having in combination a hollow insulating plug `having an openingin the base thereof, a threaded terminal forming shell 'surrounding the insulating plug, a second terminal, resilient arms attached thereto and abutting the base of the plug, lresilient attaching means connected with the resilient arms and trictionally en gagin'g the opening for attaching the terminal to the plug, and a ruse within `the plug` electrically connecting said terminals.
2. A fuse plug `having` in combination a hollow insulating plug` of unitary structure and having an opening in the base thereof, a threaded terminal forming shell surrounding the insulating plug, a resilient terminal, a pair of resilient arms connected with the resilient terminal and extending through the opening, and a fuse connected with the tree ends of said arms electrically connecting said terminals.
3. A fuse plug having in combination a hollow insulating plug having `an opening inthe base thereof, a threaded terminal forming shell surrounding the `insulating plug, a resilient terminal, a pair ot' resilient arms connected with the resilient terminal and so formed that the said terminal is attached to the plug by the frictional engagement ot said arms with the walls of said opening, and a fuse within the plug electrically connecting said terminals.

A unitary terminal and fuse tor use with a fuse plug, comprising a terminal, a pair ot' resilient attaching arms, a pair of upwari'lly extending resilient arms connected to said attaching arms and adapted to trictionally'engage an opening in the fuse plug 'for attaching the terminal thereto, and fuse secured to said terminal.
5. A unitary terminal and fuse for use with a fuse plug, comprising a terminahupwardly extending and oppositely bowed resilient arms extending therefrom, and a fuse rigidly and permanently connected to the free ends or said arms.
6. A unitary terminal and fuse for yuse with a fuse plug, comprising a terminal, a pair of arms attached thereto and bent over in a plane substantially parallel with the terminal, a. fuse, and resilient connecting means between the 'fuse and arms adapted to enter an opening in the fuse plug thereby to attach the terminal thereto.
7. A unitary terminal and fuse for use with a fuse plug, comprising a terminal, upwardly extending and oppositely bowed re silient arms extending` therefrom, the free ends ot said arms being provided with complementary grooves, and a. fuse Vpositioned in the grooves and rigidly and permanently connected to the free ends of said arms.
8. A terminal for use with a fuse plug having an opening in its end wall. compris ing` a' disk, two resilient arms attached to opposite edges of the disk and overlying` the disk and spaced therefrom, and upwardly extending extensions for the arms projecting thro-ugh the opening in the plug, whereby the terminal is attached to the plug by means of the resilient arms.
9. A unitary terminal and fuse for use with a fuse plug, comprising a disk terminal, a pair ol2 resilient attaching arms integrally united to opposite edges of the terminal and overlying the same in spaced relation thereto, upwardly extending outwardly bowed resilient arms integrally united to the free ends oit' the attaching arms, and a Jfuse positioned between the tree ends ot the upwardly extending arms and rigidly and permanently fastened thereto.
