of being connected by the coil spring 3G with the 4U-shaped )ortion 18 of the switch arm. As shown in gs. l and 2, the spring 3G holds the switch arm in engagement with the stops 19 or 20, depending uponA the position of the switch.
ln operating the switch, it is only necessary to rock the lever 28 from the position shown in Fig. l to that shown in Fig. 2, in order to throw the switch from the closed to the open position o1' vice versa. As the lever is rocked from oneposition to the other, the spring 36 will he expanded until the lower end of the lever passes beneath the pivotal point of the switch arm at which time the spring will throw the switch arm quickly into the opposite position and into engagement with the Stops Il) or 2l) as the case may be, the oflset end portions 24 and 25 of the switch blades quickly engaging with or dis-engaging from the contact clips 5 and T respectively.
Although the drawings and above specilic-ation discloses the best mode inl which I have contemplated embodying my invention,
l desire to be not limited to the details of such disclosure, for, in the further practical application of my invention, many changes in form and construction may be made, as circumstances .require or experience suggests, without departing from the spirit of the invention, ivithin the scope of the appended claims.
l claim Y l. A switch including aninverted U- shaped bracket having a longitudinal slot therethrough, a' curved lever pivotallv mounted upon said bracket and extending through the slot therein, arms formed upon opposite sides of the bracket, a U-shaped switch arm provided 'with journal portions journaled through said amis, stops formed upon the bracket for limiting the movement of the switch arm in each d1reetio n, Switch blades lixed to the outer extremities of the switch arm and a springtr connecting the free end of the lever with the switch arm.
2, A switch including an inverted U shaped bracket having aY longitudinal slot therein, a curved lever pivotally mounted upon the bracket and extending through said slot, dependiupr arms upon said bracket provided with inclined bearing notches in their lower portions, a U-shaped switch arm provided with oppositely disposed journal ortions located in said notches, switch lades mounted upon the extremii-tes of said journal arms, stops formed upon the bracket for limiting the movement of the switch arm in each direction and a spring connecting the free end of the'curved lever with the switch arm.
In testimony that l claim the above, I have hereunto subscribed my name.
