COMPOSITE BOARD.
To all whom t may concern: Be it known that, I, AUGUSTUS GROUND- MAN, a citizen of the United States, and residing at New York, in the county of Manhattan and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Composite Boards, of which the following is a specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to 'make and use the same.
This invention relates to what are known as partition walls and ceilings in dwe'llings, apartment houses, and similar buildings, and the invention consists in an improvement in 'such constructions and in the method of forming the same whereby a saving of time andlexpense is effected and better results produced; and with this and other objects in view. the invention consists in the improvements hereinafter described and in the method of making the same.
The invention is fully disclosed in the fol-- lowing specification of which the accompanying drawing forms a part,in which the separate parts of my improvement are designated yby suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which:

In the drawing forming part of this specication I have shown'at a, the up-right studs of a partition wall and in the practice of my c, any
invention I provide composition boards b, composed of any. suit-able material, preferably ireproof material, and which are reinforced by central longitudinal wires or rods desired number of which may be employed and the ends of which project beyond the body portion `of the boards as shown at o2 in Fig. 4 and also in Fig. 2.
In forming the partition :wall as herein shown and described, I mount the composition boards b in connection with the studs a in the usual manner, and as shown in Figs. 1 and 2 in the way usually employed, and said boards are preferably alternately arranged, oneabove another, as indicated in Fig. 1, and

In securing the boards to the studs, I provide Wire fastening devices e which are formed into loops which are passed around said studs and drawn tightly, and at the ends of said boards said wire fastening devices 0r the ends thereof are passed around the crossed end portions of the wires or rods c and twisted together, tied, or otherwise secured to form knots f as shown in Figs. 2 and 3,
and this securely binds the end portions of the boards to the adjacent stud as will be readily understood. In connectng the central portions of the boards with the corresponding studs the wire fastening devices are passed around said studs and the end portions apertures b2 in the boards b and said end portions are drawn tightly and secured in front of the boards by being twisted together or knotted as shown at 7 in Fig. 2, fand this operation is sol performed that the said fastening devices straddle the reinforcing wires or rods c in the boards b as clearly indicated in Figs. 1, 2, and 4'.
After the boards have been secured to the studs as described they are covered with a la er or coating of plaster, as shown at h in Fig. 2 and also Fig. 1, and this layer of plaster covers and conceals the wire fastening devices or the ends thereof where exposed in front of the boards b, and at the same time the spaces between the ends of the boards, one of which is indicated at the right of Fig. 1 and another at the left thereof, are filled in with plaster as shown at h2 in Fig. 2.
In the drawing forming part of this specifithe composition boards applied to only one side of the studs, and while I have shown and described the preferred vmeans for carrying my improvement into effect, it willA be understood that my invention is not limited to the details of construction herein shown and described, and changes therein and modifications thereof thereof are passed through suitable may be made within the scope of the appended claims Without departing from the spirit of my invention or sacriiicing its advantages.
Having fully described my invention, What claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:- l f 1. A. composition board for use in connection with Wall studding and other su ports, said board being provided with rein orcing Wires Which are imbedded therein .and the ends of said Wires projecting beyond thel edges of said board, andmeans for securing the projecting portions of said Wires to said supports.
2. A'composltion board'for forming partition Wall constructions, said board being provided with reinforcing Wires whch extend i longitudinally of and are imbedded in said 2o board and the ends of said Wires projecting intense beyond theopposite ends of said boards, and other attaching and supporting means passed through said board.
